I am new to the idea of renting points, but would love to stay at the AKV (and save some money)! Can anyone help me figure out how it works? Is there info on the web somewhere?
Thank you!
Stephanie

When you go to the Rent/Trade board, you will see a series of "stickies" at the top of the page. Be sure to read those, because they contain a LOT of info on renting. Some of it is procedural -- what's allowed, what's not, etc -- but be sure to read the FAQ and some of the other links you find in the stickies.

You'll need to read quite a bit to get comfortable with renting. It is very different from making a traditional hotel reservation. The links chalee94 gave you will give you some insight on the important differences.

Keep in mind that you do not actually 'rent points'. You have a DVC member make a reservation in your name, using the member's points. You then make some type of financial arrangement with the DVC-owner to 'pay' for the reservation.

Generally prices are on a per point basis, but that's only to determine what the reservation 'costs' the member in terms of points.

As a renter you have no say so at all about the reservation except what you do with the person you rent from. The member controls the reservation at all times, and only the member can talk to DVC at "Member" services. MS will not talk to non-members, nor should they.

If anything goes wrong with your reservation, Disney will not get involved in any way. It's between you and the member you purchase the reservation from.
