I'm renting DVC pts and want to add the dining plan. My q is how does this work? I know the person who rented me the pts has to make the call for me to add the dining plan to the reservation however, once this is done can I then make reservations through the my Disney experience app? Will the ressies be linked to my magic band? Can I cancel/change them etc like I would a typical WDW reservation? I'm so confused how renting works. I like to be able to do things myself and giving the control to someone else is driving me bonkers.

You would be in complete control when it comes to making/changing dining reservations. You need to manually link the room reservation to your MDX account. Any ADRs you make on-line will automatically be linked to your MDX account. Once you purchase admission, you need to manually link those to your MDX account also (unless purchased on disneyworld.com).

You have to have the renter purchase and pay for the dining plan at least 48 hours before you check-in.

To simplify, Book your restaurants as you always would, they are yours to control and do from180+ out. Have the person your renting your points add DP. When you check in you will see your dinning plan credits (depending on which level) Then you just use the credits when and where you want. The only thing you need the rentee to do is add and pay for the DP. BTW they might ask for the money upfront for that and you have to have it in the system 2 days before you check in.

The person renting the points to you may not be available 2 days before you check in, they could be on a 2 week cruise using the money you paid them. I suggest you make arraignments with them well in advance, renters are not required to keep 24x7 hours like the Disney Reservation Desk.:)

FYI - 2016 DVC dining plans are not yet available, as far as I know. Someone posted on another thread that they were at their 180 day mark and wanted to book CRT but since they didn't have their dining plan purchased, they had to pay in advance (CRT requires payment at the time you make the reservation).

I am also renting points and considering the dining plan. The only thing holding me back is how I will be able to handle the payment of the dining plan. I have 2 Disney Reward Cards to use our Disney dollars (about $425), and 2 different credit cards we will need to pay with (mine and my mom's). Hoping this won't be a problem.... it may just be easier paying OOP with my reward cards....
