How does PhotoPass Work?

I've noticed the posting of all the great PhotoPass pictures and people mention a CD....How does that work?

I feel like I've missed out on our earlier trips and I want to take advantage of this, this year. We have always done the PhotoPass pictues but typically it has just been 1 in front of the castle, 1 at MGM and a couple at the other parks - oh and when getting autographs. I had not idea that you could have characters added into the photos or that you could buy something more than just the pictures on line.

How do you use Photo Pass and what do you buy? How much does it cost? Do you buy photos in the park or wait till you get home?

You can pre-order the CD for 99.00. If you wait until afterwards, it will be 125.00. Also, apparently if you buy it online prior, there are a few more borders you can add to the CD. If you wait and buy it in the park, you have less options. Basically, ever photo a WDW photographer takes throughout your vacation is put on a photopass card (you can have more than one card.) On your last night in the parks, have all the cards linked together (it takes a couple of minutes and basically they put all of the pictures on one card.) That is the card that you register to buy your CD. You don't have to buy the CD. You can just buy a picture 12.95 for 5x7, 16.95 for 8x10. If you buy the CD, they send the CD with a copyright release so you can print all of your pictures, say at Wal-Mart where a 5x7 is only $1.43. We went down with a group of 12 and split the CD 3 ways so it cost us each 34 bucks. Now I can print my pictures at Wal-Mart much cheaper than buying each picture at the park, so in the long-run its much cheaper. If you only have a few pictures taken, its not worth it. We had 197 pictures taken and after adding borders and editing we now have 293.

I have a question also regarding photopass. Where do your purchase your cd? We used photopass on our trip in February but I didn't get the photos purchased prior to the 30 day expiration. We have a dial up internet connection and things take forever! We used it quite a few times but still only around 35 pictures. Can anyone tell us where they got a majority of their photopass photos taken, etc. so we can get our monies worth out of the cd and $99. Thanks in advance!

If you preorder the CD or just plan to get the CD I recommend getting as many pics as possible taken. Some of our best pictures came from photographers and places that I never would have thought to be good. Also ask the photographers about being able to superimpose characters etc. I have the coolest pic of my son saving me from Capt Hook.

okay if they give you a copyright release and you are sharing the cd with many families can you still take it to walmart and get copies made? Is the copyright on a piece of paper or what? Our walmart is very strict about copyright stuff. and this is my first time doing the photo pass cd.

I pre-ordered ours already. I am wondering if it is very hard to get enough pics on it. It seems like it would be hard to have over 100 pics taken in just 7 days, seems like you'd be stopping all the time to get a pic.

it's not all that hard if you make a minor effort. if you see a photographer and immediately say 'oh, i'll just do it later,' then yes, it'll be harder to accomplish. but i had no problem accruing over 100 photos in 4 days. not 100 different spots or poses and not 100 worth keeping, but 100 nontheless

Is there anything different or an extra discount in regards to the halloween party photopass
