Ever since my herb & spice source closed (80+ years in business - so sad :sad2:), I have been looking to find a new source.

I know many people love Penzeys Spices. If have tried Penzeys, do you like them? What do you like about them? How do they compare to, say, McCormick, Frontier and Tones?

If you don't like Penzeys, is there another source that you would recommend?

Additionally, have you tried others that you would not recommend?

TIA

I love Penzey's spices! We are fortunate enough to have a store locally. They are very good quality, and have a huge assortment. I am only familiar with McCormick and Tones brands and find them definitely better than Tones.
Costco sells larger sizes of the McCormick brand which I do buy of the spices I use the most. I would highly recommend the Penzey's spices!

I've been very happy with the quality. However, I haven't tried any other non-grocery-store spices to compare them to.

I love Penzey's and have about every herb, spice and blend they make..........that I would use.
When you sign-up for their catalog, a lot of times a coupon is there for something free. I just got 3 free things when I took DDIlL there to go grocery shopping.
Been using them for years. No store when we lived in WA, so I am in heaven with one here in AZ.

I do also buy some things at Costco that I use a lot of ...........but do like Penzey's better.
haven't used any other in years, so can't comment on those.

Not only does Penzeys offer coupons with their catalog, but they also send me a free sample every time I order. :thumbsup2

The spices are great, but with the shipping, it gets expensive. If we had a store nearby, I'd use their spices more often.

Penzey's is from WI, where I live. About half my spices are from Penzey's. I like shopping at the store and looking through the catalog. Prices are fairly reasonable when you purchase in the store.

That said, I don't really pay attention when I'm cooking if I'm using Penzey's spices or the grocery store spices, and I can't say I notice a difference when I taste the food. :confused3

My hubby loves their spices. They have great fresh flavor.

I like the Tea and Spice Exchange a lot and have many of their blends. How does Penzey compare? I see they have a store in Winter Park.

I love Penzey's. Once I ran out of something (I think Basil, or Oregano) and didn't want to pay shipping on just the one item. I went to Costco and bought a big thing there. Went home, made a HUGE pot of spaghetti. It was so bad! I immediatly threw the Costco spice out and ordered Penzey's.

I think I know the spice store you speak of, I was really surprised to hear that they closed, I don't get down there very often, but I always enjoyed walking around there.
