How does it feel?
To be on your own

DH and I went to see Bob Dylan in concert Friday night. He was fabulous -- well, as fabulous as your going to get from Dylan. His band was amazing -- the guitar player was easily the best I've ever seen. And Bob actually told a joke to the audience -- which is positively giddy for him!!

i'm glad you had a good time. i like dylan's music a lot, but i went to a bob dylan concert in the 90's and it was positively AWFUL.

How was the Aretha Franklin concert you went to awhile back?

Caity, DH and I went to see Dylan 4 or 5 years ago, and we were also very unimpressed at that one.

We went again this time mostly to pay homage to a legend. In fact, DH was fully expecting to be totally bored . . . so we were pleasantly surprised.

It's been written that every Dylan concert is different, and after seeing these two, I can agree.

Oh, and his band was totally different this time - may have also had something to do with it . . .

Don, Aretha was good, certainly, but a bit disappointing. She kept coughing (may have had a cold) but her range is not anywhere near what it used to be. She couldn't hit the high notes anymore, and didn't even try -- just pointed upward when it got to that point in the song.


She did all the classics --- RESPECT, Natural Woman, Freedom, etc, and then accompanied herself on the piano on something from her last CD.

Altogether, she sang about 90 minutes. At $85 a ticket, we figured it was about a dollar a minute!!!

Oh, and her son Teddy plays guitar with her.
