How does Holiday Autos work?

I've just seen that I could get a cheaper price on my rental by going through Holiday Autos but I'm a little nervous of the unknown.

In the past I have booked with Avis and Alamo, Alamo in the main with the BRITS code - I usually book online at the Alamo.com site rather than the UK site and I have always liked to pay locally

I'm happy to use Holiday Autos and pay up front but how does it work using a 3rd party? What's the procedure once I've booked with Holiday Autos?

TIA for any help and continued reassurances - I want to book the fuel and additional driver option

there owned by Sabre holdings, which also own travelocity, last minute to name a few.
We have used quite a few times.
we go for the extra driver/full fuel option.
We would then get a voucher via e-mail,which we print out.
We take this with us to the rental desk,we refuse all efforts to upgrade the insurance.or the toll pass(if travelling to southern Florida you have to take this option)
Take keys and go
Paul

I am booked with holidayautos and when I got the confirmation through I just went to Alamo to book the car, was no different really. I went viA quidco and saved 13%:thumbsup2

They email you a voucher which you take to the desk and they give you a car - easy peasey :thumbsup2

Used holiday autos in June and at the moment they are cheapest for December.

Looking forward to your first trip with your OL?

Thanks everyone

Ha-ha Elise is that OL short for Owners Locker? Yup this will be the first time I get my Owners Locker back and it will be interesting to see if I have remembered everything properly that I had packed in it.

I thought I had questions on that but I just found the answers on the Owners Locker forums :) I can't wait for my locker to be on the Facebook page that day!

I didn't do it that way, when I got the email confirmation I logged onto Alamo and registered by details with my driving license etc and then I don't have to queue when we get to the other end, we just go to the kiosks and complete the checkin without being hassled for upgrades, it was easy:thumbsup2 then go straight out to choose the car

Oh good to know - does it ask you about tolls though when you are at the kiosk. We have to have the tolls because we are in South Florida ... last time we didn't even mention it and my understanding is that it's automatic enrollment the first time you go through an automatic toll?

Alamo is automatic enrollment, it will only charge you if you use tolls (inevitable even from the airport!). $2 a day up to a maximum of $6 per rental period plus the tolls. :thumbsup2

I don't know about tolls as we don't take that option but would imagine that the self kiosks would ask that question:confused3

if your having to use the toll option you add on when picking up car.think its $7 per day might be wrong.
If you haven't added and go through a Auto toll lane you will be charged a lot more

Depends on the rental company.

With Alamo, National and Enterprise you are automatically enrolled but only charged if you use it. $2 per day used (if you don't drive through a toll booth in a day, you're not charged for that day) up to $6 per rental period plus the tolls.

Hertz and Advantage are automatic enrolment but you only start getting charged from the first day of toll road, but the daily cost is slightly higher at $2.95 regardless of whether or not you're using the toll road on any given rental day, up to $14.75 per rental month plus the tolls. Avis and Budget are the same costs but you automatically opted in, so if you don't want to be charged for it, decline it at time of rental. As it's automatically on, you may well need to ask them to remove it.

Dollar and Thrifty are specifically opted into or declined at time of car collection (not all desk agents ask, so if you want it, make sure you ask for it, and if you don't, check the rental agreement before signing for 'Rent-a-Toll' or 'Pass24'), and the cost is $7.50 per rental day, or $39.49 per week, regardless if using tolls or not, BUT tolls are not charged in addition to this. A word of caution: if you don't opt in, but use the toll roads as if you have (i.e. drive through the pass lanes and not use the pay cash now lanes) you will be charged the tolls after completion of rental, plus an admin fee of $25 PER TOLL. Normally this would be up to a month after your rental period, so if you do it, expect to see your credit/debit card hit with a charge after you get back.

Thanks ever so ... this is another reason why for now I shall always use Alamo from Miami Airport!

Thanks everyone

Yes OL is Owners Locker. I never see our locker names on FB as they go up after we leave London and I have forgotten to look once we get to Orlando :rotfl:

Any questions just ask :goodvibes
