How does FP work at LMA?

Has anyone used FP for LMA at MGM yet? I'm wondering how the return times work. Do they start issuing FPs as soon as the park opens and the return times indicate one of the three shows based on how early you get there, or do they issue FPs for one show at a time -- for example for the 3:55 show right after the 1:55 show starts? I'm not sure if I worded my question clearly -- but I'm basically wondering what time I should walk over to pick up a FP for the 3:55 show -- it's our one "must do" at the park that day and we also have PSs for lunch and dinner that I'm trying to work around. All this planning is driving me nuts!

When we were there in March there were three shows and they were giving out FP's for the next available show. We were there around 9:30am and got the noon show (first of that day). The theater is quite large. I would assume they would start on the second show when all the FP's for the first show are gone, whether or not the first show had started. This is what they seem to do for Millionaire.

I'd be really surprised if FASTPASS was needed on a regular basis at LMA. It seats what, 5,000 people?

Thanks! We will be at MGM on May 23 (following the UG's "day after EMH" strategy) so hopefully it won't be extremely crowded but I'm thinking of using FP because my DS2.5 just hates standing in lines that don't move (like when you are waiting to get in the theater for Playhouse Disney or Lion King shows). If they are holding people outside the gate until showtime then letting them in all at once I'll need all the help I can get in the form of a shorter standing wait time!

I would definitely recommend FP's because your wait will be shorter and, it seemed to me, that we got better seats. It seemed like the regular line had to go up and over while we went to a center section but I could be wrong. In any case, we had great seats without a huge wait - always a plus in my book. And yes, they give out FP's for the next available show until the FP's run out.

I thought I read somewhere that they are giving out Fast Passes for the Playhouse Disney show. Anyone know if that's the case now?

We were just there MLK weekend in January and they weren't giving out FPs for Playhouse Disney, however if they are now that would be great! Even with the disney channel tv shows playing in the que it was hard to keep my DS2.5 behind the ropes.

OK if I get there at 9 a.m. and go directly for a FP for the noon show, then I can't get anymore FP's for 2 hours?? Thats a 3 hour wait for your FP window to open up .....Or would these FP's be "disconnected" from the rest?

Anyone have any experience with this? If you have a FP for a LMA show that's several hours away does this keep you from getting FPs for other rides?

Fastpass guests are admitted to the show first, which means they generally line up earlier.

If you arrive after the regular guests start entering, you can still use the Fastpass entrance and skip past them.

If you arrive so late that the regular guests have filled the theater, you are out of luck. I saw someone's post on these boards containing a quotation from an official Disney letter saying expired Fastpasses are still good later in the day but in practice it is up to the whim of the CM at the Fastpass line.

The maximum delay for another Fastpass is about two hours. Less if the park is not so busy. Last month there was an experiment at Epcot whereby for some attractions you could get another Fastpass for a different attraction immediately but that was only on a trial basis. If you got a Fastpass for LMA at 9 AM for the noon show, you can get another Fastpass at 11 AM or sooner.

I thought I read that the LMA FP is separate and won't prevent you from getting a FP for another attraction. But don't know for sure! We'll be there early June and I hope that's the case!

i was there for the official opening on thursday 6th and the fast pass line was longer than the standby line. they let the FPers in first and kept the standby people waiting ages but in the end everyone got in ok. the stadium is pretty large and you''ll get a good view everywhere. ultimately in wasnt worth the wait or the cramped seats as the show is pretty tedious. there isnt any story to speak of so you dont care about what is happening and even as a "here's how its done" show, there is precious little humor to keep the audiance engaged. i preferred fantasmic which was brilliant and the indy jones show.
