How does Fauci's longer-term vision affect the future of cruising?

I think it’s terrifying that we are even having this conversation.

It is, but it is also scary what is going on with the planet. I guess it is the scientist in me that I will never lose. Sadly the earth can't support an infinite number of people, I wish it could. This is why they are using science to create better crop yields and more efficient meat yields. Tying it back to cruising perhaps the ships need to get greener faster to help out with the environment. Sadly that will drive many cruise lines out of business or remove a large portion of their ships from service. There really are no good answers to solving this issue, I really wish there were.

Based on the below quote from Dr. Fauci, eliminating COVID seems like window dressing for the "heavy lifting" that he thinks needs to be done to get on a better footing.

Chief among them are reducing crowding at home, work, and in public places as well as minimizing environmental perturbations such as deforestation, intense urbanization, and intensive animal farming. Equally important are ending global poverty, improving sanitation and hygiene, and reducing unsafe exposure to animals, so that humans and potential human pathogens have limited opportunities for contact.

I believe most countries will insist on vaccinations in order for ships/passengers to visit their Port.

I think we all are, but as hard and tempting as it is I refuse to let my guard down, especially since we are delivering groceries and essentials to my parents to protect them as much as we can. Honestly I think it is going to be an adjustment to go back to not worrying about it, but can't wait till that is a problem

I am one of 5 and glad I have my younger sisters!!! I have one sister who has 7 children. I am very happy to have my nieces and nephews and very glad we get to decide how many children we can have.

Dr Fauci's vision is just that-a vision. Not sure how that will affect cruising in the long term. Short term, once this pandemic is under control, I don't think it will affect anything. We do need to treat this planet more carefully. Now and moving forward. Individually we should be able to decide about our reproduction. You decide your responsibility to this planet.

I don't think that Fauci's vision will change anything at all. That's not to say he's not correct about how to limit pandemic spread. But humans have short memories. And we Americans tend to love our personal freedoms. I think what will move the needle is the mind shift of the people who are cruising, not an infectious disease specialist. So, I think that most people start to feel weird/gross about sitting so close to people in the dining rooms, and eating food from a buffet. I think this will drive changes in cruising more than Fauci's statements.
