How Does Everyone Like Coranodo???

I am a deluxe girl, but we usually spend our fly in night at csr. If I ever have to downgrade from poly or an epcot resort this is where I will stay. I think it has one of the best resort pools. The slide is good enough for older kids, and they have a nice play are for young kids, which includes a ping pong table if my memory is correct. The hot tub is larger than the ones at the deluxe resorts. I love tropical theming. Some people say that its southwest, but I live in the southwest, and its not southwest United states. It's more South American. Anyway, its very pretty I think you made a good choice.

We've stayed at every level of WDW resort and we love CSR. We're DVC now, but we used to always try to land a great deal at a deluxe for our trips. On the occasions we just couldn't justify the budget for a deluxe, we chose CSR as our standby. The place is beautiful, the rooms are a good size, and we like the ability to park our car in a spot that isn't a 10 minute walk from our room. We also think the gift shop is terrific at CSR.:earsboy:

We have stayed at CSR twice, both times in January. First stay was in Ranchos. Location: Not too long of a walk to the main pool and one of the bus stops. Although the walk wasn't super long to the main bldg. for meals or gift shop or a leisurely stroll, it is a long walk to get a quick drink or snack if that makes sense. I liked the scenery (large bolders desert theme) the quiet pool was fine.

The second stay was in Casitas. I can't remember the bldg. number (seems like it was maybe Casitas 2). At first I didn't really like the location, it was in the back of the bldg. facing the parking lot. After a day or two, the location was actually pretty good. A bus stop was right behind the parking lot and a short walk. I preferred the Casita's quiet pool to the Ranchos quiet pool. It was very pretty and spacious.

As others have said, it is really a pretty and scenic resort. The Pepper Market was fine. To me, it didn't seem much different than a food court. We had dinner one night at Maya Grill. The food wasn't too good but service was nice and it is a pretty restaurant. Hopefully, the food is better as it was a couple of years that we had dinner there.

One morning I walked the entire resort (around the lake) and I was surprised at what an easy walk it was. I think this was probably because I was walking leisurely and taking in the scenery. Where the resort seems large (IMO) is if you just want to grab a quick drink or snack from the main bldg. or you are in a hurry. You really have to decide if anyone has mobility issues and may have difficulty navagating the resort.

Overall, I enjoyed my stays at CSR and I wouldn't hesitate staying there again. We did not have a renovated room either stay, so I wold be anxious to see how the new rooms are.

we stayed there for the first time in august 2011. we added 2 days at the last minute mid trip and decided to give it a try. we really liked it. i'd stay there again. we stayed in the ranchos section. our only negative was with room service we started calling 2 1/2 hours before they closed and they never picked up. i thought overall the resort was a lot like staying at a deluxe but at the price of a moderate. my granddaughter loved the movies at night pool side. room was very nice.

Just got back a couple hours ago from our first stay at CSR. It was just hubby and I. The only other mod I have stayed at is PORS. I like the rooms at CSR better as I thought the wooden doors instead of the curtain added much more privacy. NOt that DH and I needed that, but had the kids been along, would have been nice. ANyway...

We really thought the resort was just WAY too big until last night! Yes, they gave us a map but I didn't pay any attention to it. Our room (6A and just about as far from El Centro as you can get via the road) faced the parking lot and road. We had NO idea that there were sidewalks! I kept telling DH how upset I'd be if I had bought a mug and had to jump on a bus every time to fill it up. We had to visit GS one night and I mentioned that I didn't like it that I had to wait on a bus to get back to our room. She said nothing about the sidewalk so we went and waited and waited on a bus. The roads are unlit and our room was 1.1 mile from the front (we had a rental first couple days) Again, it wasn't until last night that we found out about the sidewalks, on night 6! This morning at 4:30 we walked to El Centro as bell services wanted to pick us up at 3:45 for a 4:45 ME pickup. The walk was very easy and only took about 7 mins.

So, it didn't seem so big after all. :goodvibes

LOVED our stay at CSR from 8-15 October. Casitas 4 was a great location. I have to admit that I was very nervous after reading a few reviews, but all my fears were unfounded. Bus service was great to and from the parks.....only had one day where we waited more than 10 minutes for a bus going to the parks (actual wait was about 20 minutes) and only one long wait coming back from Epcot one night which was about 30-35 minutes. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We went in August of this year and really enjoyed CSR! The counter service (Pepper Market) was wonderful for all three meals....Had no issues with Busses or convention goers. There was a little walking, but it was beautiful and relaxing! There's a cool bridge "shortcut" that we used to get to the pool....wonderful vacation! The CM's are really nice too....everyone from the front desk to the cashiers at Rix Cafe to the Mousekeeping staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in Cabanas 9A, which was very close to the main building.

Have a great trip!!!

We are staying here in January. Can I ask about ground floor versus the upper floors? How's the elevator service? Slow? I'm thinking about asking for ground floor, if available.

I always ask for ground floor somewhere in Cabanas with a preference for 8A. Out of seven trips I've been top floor Castitas 1 once, top floor Casitas 2 once, first floor Cabanas 9B twice, first floor Cabanas 9A once, and first floor Cabanas 8A twice, so five out of seven times I've gotten my ground floor request, but not necessarily my preferred building

The elevators are fine. One caveat though: Building 2 is the only building at CSR that does not have an elevator and if you happen to get stuck on the back side (facing the parking lot) on the far end closest to building 4, you will have looooong way to get to your room. The choices will be to walk around the building, use Building 3's elevator, walk across the bridge/walkway over to building 2, then walk all the way around the building to get to your room. The other option is to use the stairs over by the quiet pool and go up four flights of stairs, then cut across the end of the building, and go around to your room. The stairwell closest to the parking lot on the end, only goes up to the third floor. My first night there, I could see my room but couldn't figure out how to get up to that top floor to it (I had climbed the outside stairwell up to the third floor, which is as far as it went:rotfl:). I finally found a CM coming out of another room, pointed to my room, and asked him how to get up there. He laughed and said I was in what the CMs call 'No Man's Land' and said they didn't know why the architect designed that one building that way, but those rooms are very hard to get to.:rotfl: He showed me the other stairway over by the quiet pool and how to get to the elevator over in building 3 by going over the walkway/bridge at the opposite end of building 2. The rest of the buildings are fine though and each have an elevator. They are not slow.

Oh my, thanks for the heads up.....I'll try to avoid building 2. We won't actually be arriving until evening. I may try to call them that morning. When I used to work at a hotel, we did the room assignments that morning. I'm hoping to get ground floor in Cabanas and get a rollaway placed in our room.

Thanks for the information!!! Can't wait for our trip.

Aubriee has some great info. :goodvibes Casita 2 is preferred, so unless you paid for a preferred room, you are unlikely to be assigned there (unless you are upgraded). Building 2 is OK, but I wouldn't want to be on the fourth floor. All of the other buildings have elevators that actually go to the top floor ;), so you should be fine unless you are assigned a room that starts with 24xx.

Rooms are assigned 4-5 days in advance as far as I know, but changes can occur up to check-in. I'd call Disney or your TA and have your request noted - you can add it anytime by calling and giving them your reservation number. You can still request a change at check-in, but if you add the request now, they might give you the room you want when they do the initial room assignments.

We prefer the cabanas for location, but the casitas and ranchos are beautiful, too. :goodvibes

So many opinions and great info. We will be there in 28 days! Unsure what the best room request is? Where would you request a standard room, and a preferred? After reading this thread I'm thinking I may call them up and add preferred...

I really don't have any thing negative to say about CSR but it was an ok resort for us-we liked POFQ better could be the size or boat to DTD.

Bus service at CSR was wonderful I also think if you had a car parking was close to all of the areas, didn't care for the Pepper Market but like the other CS option it didn't look like much but it served our purpose better-refilling mugs & grabbing food quicker. Queen beds were great-but now they are putting them in other mods. At night CSR is very beauitful. the CM's were very nice.

Have a great trip.

We stayed at csr resort when we visited in 2010 and I loved it, the food at the maya grill was really nice and I loved the Pepper Market, it was great for both dh and I to eat something different. The setting is lovely and I never even noticed the people there for the conventions except when they were having evening drinks.

We had a very good stay at CSR in '09. Of the 8 WDW resorts I've stayed at, CSR had the best bus service. There was a convention going on while we were there and with the exception of seeing them walking from their rooms to the convention center in the a.m., we never saw them. The pool is great and the grounds are very lush.

The only thing we didn't like were the dining options. We hated PM (confusing, slow, $ and the cms were awful), but PM seems to be a love it or hate it kind of place. Rix cafe, the grab and go, was good and has seating.

I have more new (to me) resorts I want to try, but I would be happy to return to CSR at some point.
