How does DVC work at Disney Paris or Tokyo?

After reading about some of the difficulties involved in using DVC points in Hawaii and Europe, I think the only thing that might make DVC make sense for us is if the foreign Disney resorts work like the Disneyworld resorts and not like the timeshare trades.

Can someone enlighten me?

Many thanks!

Disneyland Paris work just like disneyworld & disneyland except with disney Paris & Tokyo the tickets are included in the points. For example you make ressies for 3 nights at DLP for 4 people in one room. Lets say its 50 points a night ( i dont have the current point chart in front of me right now) the ressies would be 150 points and you would get 4 DLP park tickets a day for each night you stay. You do not have to pay the $75 or $95 booking fee.

I don't think the tickets are included for Tokyo. They definitely are for Paris, and I think they are for Hong Kong as well.

Thanks for the information. I tried to use the point calculator to get a sense of the kind of points that these places would require, but I can't get it to work. Is there any other place I might be able to find this information?

Just to give you an idea:
Tokyo: 44 to 71 points per night, depending on which hotel, season, and weekend vs weekday.
Hong Kong: 34 to 64 depending on which hotel, season, view, and weekend/weekday.
Paris: 43 to 97 depending on which hotel, season, and weekend/weekday

I am booked at Tokyo Mira Costa Hotel for April for 5 nights. No tickets included but like Paris there was no fee to make the reservation. If you have been to Tokyo Disney you know that the points are well worth it at the Mira Costa one of the most beatiful of all Disney resorts.

The charts are on the DVC Members' website, but it sounds like you aren't a member (yet, anyway, LOL). So here's a link to the DLP chart for 2007:

Disneyland Paris - 2007 Point Chart

Keep in mind that the points for everything except the DVC resorts tend to increase each year. It won't be the best value of your money to buy DVC if you aren't going to use it mostly for stays at one of the DVC resorts.

Best wishes -

Thanks again! And I appreciate the "not yet," CarolMN. I would love to make this work, but unfortunately we are starting to look at vacations other than WDW. We are pretty committed to going on one of the Med. cruises in 2007, and have talked about at some point also going to Disneyland Paris. I know that the DVC resorts are the best use of DVC points, but I'm still wondering whether using points for cruises and Paris might nevertheless be a better value than paying cash.

Not in my opinion. Here's why I think so for cruising -

Many members actually rent their points and use the proceeds to pay for the cruise. They do it because those who book for points are paying quite a premium for the convenience of having MS do the booking.

Not all cabin categories are available to be booked for points.

You pay a non-refundable fee of $75 to book for points. If you make changes to your reservaiton, you pay the fee again.

The earliet you can book for points is 11 months prior to departure. Those who book for cash can book sooner than that. The earlier you book, the better choice of cabin.

If you cancel, the points you used cannot be used for a stay a DVC resort. They can only be used for another cruise or selected non-DVC options. (They cannot be used for an exchange via Interval International).

I don't have a list for DLP. But the points required to book anything in the non-DVC options can and do change. They have gone up most years - there is no inflation protection built in like there is for stays at the DVC resorts. If you plan tomostly do cruises and DLP, I think you would be better off paying cash. My opinion. Yours may differ.

Best wishes -
