How does DCL charge for a child having their 13th birthday onboard?

I was curious, we always book our cruise for our twin DD's birthday.

What happens when a child turns 13 on the cruise? Do you pay the adult rate for the cruise? Or do you pay a child rate still since they are 12 on the day they board?

Gee I'm not sure.... I would THINK they would pay the price they were when they boarded. It would be a pain to have to figure out the difference etc.

You're charged at the rate they are on the first day of the cruise. They do NOT charge any extra for a child who has a birthday on the cruise and moves into a different pricing tier.

This is also true if you book with DVC points...they are considered "consumed" on the first day of the trip.

I'm really glad to hear this, we want to 'splurge' on their 13 birthday and do a 7 day cruise with a veranda (never had one before and probably would never be able to again, but I am going to save for 2 years so we can do this). Their birthday will be in the middle of the week that year, so when they get on that Saturday they will still be 12.
