How does buying snacks work on the DDP?

I know there are lists, but it is impossible to memorize all of the items. Does each stand/restaurant have a list? Do you say what you'd like and they tell you if it's on the DDP or not?

Many of the venues have a posted menu that has a dining plan symbol on it next to each item, so it's pretty easy to tell. Also, places that do NOT accept dining plan credits also generally have a sign saying so.

It's really not very difficult, and certainly doesn't require memorizing the lists! Worst case is that you may have to ask in one or two cases, and then you can make the decision if you want the item enough to pay for it or if you'll pass.

Most of the DDP snacks have a DP icon next to the name of the snack on the menu. So, by looking at the menu at a counter service location, you would be able to identify what qualifies as a snack.

You get X number of snacks/person/night of stay. ON the DxDP, you get 3, on the regular I think you get 1. So, you get a total, say you're on DXDP staying 7 nights you get 21 snacks. You hand over your card and the CM swipes it, removing 1 or more snacks from your total depending on how many you buy. If you're buying snacks for yourself and all members of your party, you only need to use one card. Each card for the ressie is encoded with the total number of snacks for all guests on the ressie.

Anyway, after two times using the DxDP, I learned there are more bang for your buck snacks than using a credit for water. We've gotten ice cream, ice cream floats, cup cakes, fudge, giant peanut butter cups, etc with our snack credits. The Main St. Confectionary has all sorts of selections. Each country in Epcot also has some snack offering. Have fun!

when i went back in january - i was in the same boat, the dis taught me a few things - 1) look for the DP logo, that equals snack item. 2) if you dont see the logo, just ask! CMs know. and 3) a good rule of thumb, most snacks are items under $5.00. i was so bummed when i went into the main street bake shop and i saw the fudge was considered a snack on the DDP. best bang for your buck!

Thank you! All useful information. I'm getting more and more excited!

Rule #1: When in doubt, ask the CM.
Rule #2: Refer to rule #1

As far as memorizing lists goes, when we went last time I made a 1-page "cheat sheet" (multiple columns, 8 pt. font size for maximum "squeezing") of the snack offerings listed here that we were likely to consider. When we wanted to look something up, it was easy enough to pull that out and see it.
