I am waiting to see what discounts Disney releases for our January trip. I didn't check with AAA but I wondered how their discounts compare? I guess I always figured that what Disney offered was better but I wanted to see what others thought.

You can figure on appox. 10-15% discount on room part of a AAA Disney pkg., plus you can get some AAA perks ( storytime, VIP fireworks if your pkg includes dining). I personally have booked thru AAA 3 times but could really have done it myself. If you are booking a room only res and buying Tix separate you can call Disney direct and ask for AAA discount. AAA can apply any public Disney discounts but I personally find it's a ROYAL PITB to have to call TA, have her call Disney and hope discount I want is still aval.

Thanks for the info. Do you know can you use a AAA discount on top of a Disney promotion? Or is it one or the other. Should I call Disney now and have them apply any AAA discounts and then if Disney releases another I can apply that too? Right now we have a room only at Wilderness Lodge. I will probably switch to a package closer to the date when I see what Disney promotions are available.

You can call Disney and ask if they have AAA rates for 2014 they may not be ready yet. It's one promo or other, can't double dip.

What I've been known to do myself is book room only with AAA discount and than when a public code or AP rate comes out call and change to that discount.

My AAA agent was busy the other day booking 2014 vacations, so they might have the discount code out already. When we first booked with AAA there was no free dinning and the AAA discount was much better than the current offer being issued by Disney. When free dinning cam out, that was the better deal so my agent changed us over. Like a PP said, you can not combine discounts, but most agents will look out for the best deal. You can always call you AAA office for a free quote.

I work for AAA. It's one or the other. You cannot combine discounts. I've booked people under the AAA rate and if a better promotional rate comes along, I switch them over to it. You'll still get all the AAA benefits with the promo rates. That being said you need to find an agent who knows Disney and will keep an eye out for promotions so you don't have to keep calling/emailing!

Thanks for the tips. I am working with a small world travel agent and she said she can apply a room discount for AAA but if I want a AAA package I need to go through them. I am just going to wait because she seemed to think the Disney deals will be better so I can change my mind later I guess. My head is spinning from all of the decisions!

I booked a room only at POFQ for February and got a 15% discount. I may change the reservation to a package if Disney puts out a better discount but I'm not holding my breath since I'm a solo traveler. ;)

I think this is a smart choice, I have never ended up using AAA discount once everything was said/done.

When you book with AAA, if Disney comes out with a promo that is better than what you originally booked, they will change it for you so you will get the best deal. Not only do you get deal, if you book a package with dinning from AAA you will get a diamond parking card, a discount card that is good for several places in the world, special discounts on park tours, a special fireworks viewing area for people who have booked with AAA and a special story time in Epcot that will feature a character. My AAA agent also offers a few other services, like person itinerary services and she would have booked my ADRs for me if I had wanted her to, but I prefer to do those things myself.
