Refurbishments are a "HOT TOPIC" for Disney fans. We want the Parks to be PERFECT when we're there. Depending on the time of year you choose to go, this may or may not be the case.
I choose to go during what has been know as the slow time of the year, Jan to early March. Which is traditionally Disney's Refurbishment kick off period, in preparation for the high season. Due to my travel time choice, we experience ride closures. Over the years I have learned there are similarities to when certain rides will be down and can take this into consideration when planning.
If you want to get a feel for past closure cycles, check out HydroGuy's thread for Historical DLR Park Hours.

The closure of the Castle has really caused an up-roar with some. We've all seen pictures of what to expect if going to DL prior to its' unveiling.
I thought I'd post a few pictures of past refurbishments.
Here's the Train Station with (2013) and without (2012) a pictured tarp.

I believe Disney considers our feelings and does their best to keep the parks looking as nice as possible during lengthy refurbishments.
Care to share any of your Refurbishment pictures?
