break up with your realtor? We have had our house on the market since January. Our home has shown once a month, two of those times were second showings. We need to get our house sold and get our family back under one roof. My husband took a job in Kansas and we are in Tennessee.

I believe we signed a nine month contract, feeling that it would sell in the spring without fail. My realtor, however, was tied up with a SEC baseball commentating job and was usually out of pocket Thurs - Sun (had no idea when I sign him up as our realtor).

I want to be as kind as possible, but enough is enough and I am ready to move on to someone a little more hungry. He said we could get out of the contract with no problems, but I don't seem to have a copy of the contract to make sure there are no problems. (We have worked with him before when buying our first home and he is trustworthy).

HELP!!!

I would suggest talking to him ASAP. The contract you signed is legally binding and if he so chooses he can hold you to it.

I would call him first and ask if you can actually get out of your contract early and ask him to send it in writing. Then I would just send him a certified letter requesting to be released from the contract effective immediately.

good luck

Are you really thinking that your realtor is the main problem? Has he listed the house on MLS, helped you stage it so it presents well?

Especially in a soft market like we're in right now, pricing the house properly is critical... if you're priced even a little too high for the comparable properties in your area, buyers are going to pass you by no matter how good your realtor is.

And, yeah... you do need a realtor who is on the ball and focused on helping you get your house sold. Best of luck!

I put mine on the market in January too, but with a six month contract that expires this week. Seems kinda funny but when I told her I wasn't able to extend the contract we got an offer two days later. Now we are in the wait and see mode. It is a tough market. Good luck to you.
