How do you use your Kitchen Aid mixer?

I've had a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for a few years, but I very seldom use it. Due to health reasons, we seldom eat cookies, cakes, etc. I do use it to mix up my mashed potatoes, but that's about it.

I recently saw another thread here, and someone mentioned that they use their Kitchen Aid stand mixer to shred meat for pulled pork, etc. I never thought about that, but it sounds like a great idea. Other than the typical mixing of cookies, cakes, etc, what do you use your KA mixer for?

I use mine for bread dough and to make homemade pasta noodles . Let it do all the kneading for you :)

I make dough for 18 bagels every week in mine. I also make pizza dough, lots of cookies, cakes, and frosting. I have the ice cream attachment and make lots of ice cream in the summer. I also have the pasta attachment--it's sitting in the box and hasn't been used in 10 years probably.

i only use mine 2-3 times per year. i use it to make teacakes for DH. they're his favorite cookie, and the dough is SO hard to mix by hand.

I use mine for kneading dough 4 or 5 times a week, plus anything else I need a mixer for.

I don't have any attachments for it. I suggested to hubby that they would make a great Christmas present for me this year. His reply was, "I'm not stupid. I know better than to buy a woman anything that involves cooking or cleaning as a present." sigh.... but I REALLY want them. I will probably buy them myself in Jan. or Feb.

I use ours most often to make mashed potatoes and whipped cream. I use it at least monthly for cake and cookie dough as I have a sweets loving husband.

Would you post your bagel recipe, please? :)

Besides the obvious baking, I love using it to make big batches of meatloaf to put in freezer.

Bread dough, scones, cakes, cookies, healthy breads and muffins, pasta dough, i have the roller attachment too, meatloaf, horse treats, dog cookies, fondant, gumpaste, both of which i use the roller attachment for as well, whipped potatoes, stuffing for twice baked potatoes, meatloaf, whipcream, etc. i use it almost daily.

Another request for the bagel recipe, please!

I use mine for bread and rolls. I also make spaghetti with the attachment, as well as ground ham for ham salad with the same attachment. It grinds and extrudes pasta, so it makes spaghetti, macaroni, rigatoni, etc (but I've only tried the spaghetti, macaroni makes me nervous!)

I also have the ice cream attachment for ice cream, sorbets and italian ices. That might be a good option for you, because you can make them 100% fruit since you're in control. You can also avoid the fake sweeteners that are in so many mass produced 100% fruit sorbets.

Shame he didn't take the hint, he should have listened to you!! This will cost him in the long run though, cuz now he's getting you a gift, and then your going to get what you really want. :rotfl2: Which is exactly what I would do!

I have the shredder attachment so I will use it to shred things like cheese and carrots. I also have the ice cream maker attachment so I am always making homemade ice cream. I sometimes make bread with it. I really want the pasta maker attachment
