How do you use Gift Cards to pay for Disney?

Okay all you savvy bargain hunters out there, how do you use Disney Gift Cards to pay for Disney?

I purchased a few when Meijer had a sale a couple of months ago. Now Kroger has a 4x return and I'm set to buy more, but before I invest, I have a few questions.

I have already charged my Disney package on a credit card. But, when I check-out, can I pay the bill using cash and/or Gift Cards and just basically get a credit on my credit card account?

Does anyone do this or is it too much of a PITA?

(I'll use the ones I've purchased on extra room key charges, like tips on meals and incidentals. So it's not as if I'll lose $$.)

We have used Disney gift cards for CS meals and gift purchases. Also, made the $200 deposit using one. I hear if you have to cancel, Disney will credit the original gift card. So hang on to it.

I charged everything to the room and they went back to check in a few days into the trip and applied the gift cards. I had 10 of them

Kroger is running a special right now - "Earn 4x Fuel Points". With the Kroger Plus Card, for every gift card purchase (some exclusions), you get 4 times your fuel points (Nov 21-Dec 11).

For us, we can only redeem at Shell, but we go through a lot of gas.

I have never done this, so we will see how it goes. If it works well for us, I will get more cards in December and I will look for it at other times of the year, too.

I really like the idea of this too..I got my first one tonight!!! I think I am going to take our change every couple of months and cash in it to fill it up!! I would love to be able to pay our deposit in gc and I know the hubby would be thrilled!!!
