How do you upgrade GAD to renewal AP?

There is no such thing as a "DVC Discount" related to any Annual Passes (No matter what Member Services says).

There are three separate categories (or price ranges) of Annual Passes. The lowest price range is for Florida Residents. There is a higher price range for DVC Members. And the highest price range is "Tourist", which is people who do not qualify for either of the other categories.

Regular and Premium Annual Passes have the same privileges, no matter which price range they are in.

Do I have to do the AP upgrade on the same exact day I use the GAD voucher for the ticket? Or is it like other tickets that can be upgraded for 14 days after use? In other words, I have an AP that expires on day 5 of our trip. If I get the GAD ticket on say day 2 can I use that ticket stub when I do the upgrade sometime between day 2 and 5?
I hope I'm not confusing everyone!

You've got 14 days to upgrade, so no worries.

This is driving me nuts! We are AP holders and will visit in May and September. My pass expires in the middle of October, so I can't renew in August to get the 15 month pass (miss it by 17 days!) or take advantage of the pre-increase rate and use my voucher. pirate:

That is us too (sort of). We're going at the end of March & our DVC AP's expire May 22 because we went over Memorial Day last year & it fell earlier. That renewal date is messing us up since they have that stooopid 30-day window rule.

That's one reason of many that we've decided to use our vouchers for the Special Fast Passes in March and just skip going to WDW altogether the next year. We are going to HHI in August instead of buying new AP's. I don't know WHEN we'll get back to FL now...Worst thing is we'll still be paying for our Owners Locker and not getting any visits next year... Oh well. Still love that thing!:lovestruc

When we are talking on the AP, we are including the Seasonal Passes, correct?

I was going to let my pass expire and then use the GAD after Summer to upgrade again, but I have family members in town next week and I might want to visit them in the parks. My SP expired monday, so by reading this, I have to

1) enter the park with my GAD voucher redeemed
2) go to GR and upgrade that GAD ticket to my SP renewal.

correct?

My wife and I just renewed our AP's with our GAD vouchers and in our case, they did it all at the Will Call window before we even entered the parks. From what I've read on here, it sounds like they'll process AP upgrades and renewals immediately, but if you want to upgrade to a park ticket then you'll need to enter the park first.

I would suggest asking at Will Call when you present your voucher... hopefully they'll just do it right there. But if not, then do what you said... enter the park, then go to GR for the renewal. Also note that they are still offering 15 months on AP (and SP) renewals, so your new SP will be good for 15 months from when your original one expired.

Yes. An "AP" is anything from a Florida Resident Weekday Select up to an including a Premier Passport. However, may people also refer to an "AP" specifically as the WDW four park hopper annual pass which includes parking and has no blockout dates. I think reading in context is important.

I just got back from a visit to AK yesterday. I went to the Will call booth and I got my renewal and the GAD voucher redeemed right there.

I told the lady what I was doing (getting the GAD, then going to GR to renew at the renewal rate.). She said they could do it there but she had to ask a coworker as she's not done it before.

a few moments later, she came back with a laminated sheet with "Alternate (or maybe alternative) Options" on it. On one side on the left column, middle of the sheet was PASSHOLDER RENEWAL.

She ran the GAD voucher first for the $84.xx, then ran the Passholder renewal (Seasonal), it asked for a Voucher number on one screen, which she entered and entered the GAD ticket price ($84.xx), and viola... a few minutes later, I had my renewal for $151.xx I thought that was lower than it should have been ( I think I was misapplying tax), but I'm not a CM so I gladly took it.

didn't have to go to the GR or anything. One stop shopping gets a :thumbsup2 from me.
