I've read quite a few questions and topics about buses and getting around the world and it got me thinking.

How does everyone travel inside WDW?

We always rent and find it money well spent

Disney buses or taxi's if I'm going from resort to resort. I don't do this often.

If I'm staying at a resort with a boat I do that too like the boat from WL to MK or POR to DTD.

If I rented a car, I couldn't drink because I don't drink and drive (not even 1) so I use Disney transport.

I answered buses. We rely strictly on Disney transportation, be it buses, monorail, or boat. We must be strange because we actually don't mind the buses and 100% appreciate that they are provided for our use.

Disney allows us a "complete" vacation. No cleaning, cooking, driving...just fun, fun, fun!! We have never had any major issues with Disney transportation but we are pretty go with the flow. :goodvibes

We use the buses, boats, and monorail. We usually use a car service for R/T transfers between MCO and the resort, but sometimes we rent a car if rentals are low enough and equal close to what we would pay for a car service. If we do rent a car, it sits until it's time to go back to the airport because for us, Disney transportation is too easy. We are go with the flow kind of people and are never in a hurry to get anywhere, so we have no problem waiting for a bus, boat, etc. because we know we'll eventually get to where we need to go. Plus it's great to relax after leaving a park or DTD and not have to worry about driving.

One of the perks we enjoy most is the DW transportation. Since we fly from the west coast, we really love taking advantage of the ME airport transportation and DW busses so we never have to worry about the headache (and expense) of cabs, or renting a car and driving..well, driving anywhere!

We love that! I suppose we compensate by allowing a little extra time to get places, but we don't mind and don't want to be in a big hurry to get anywhere, anyway. Vacation, right?!

Great question, great poll, WDW lifer!
:goodvibes

We always rent a car every time we go. We will use it to go to the parks/ wps/ dtd ect. We also use the hotel transportation when we want to busses, boats (if we ever stayed at a monorail resort we would def use that!!!) :goodvibes

This for us too. I like not having to really do anything on vacation except enjoy it!

I answered other because We use a combination of both rental cars and disney transportation.

My husband likes the freedom of having a car and i like that if we want, we can split up and not worry.

We always use Disney transportation for everything. It's nice to not have to worry about getting lost & where to park or arguing with DH about getting lost or where to park :rotfl: Plus we can both drink anywhere we go instead of taking turns like we do when we have to drive home.

Us too, well with the exception of cooking / cleaning. We have DVC and actually love being able to cook meals if we want and also the ability to do laundry.. The Mrs. doesnt mind at all throwing some clothes in so she doesnt have to pack as much. normally things like underwear, socks and pants / shorts, we usually do have an assortment of shirts since we like to mix that up, but other stuff, lol we could probably get away with 2 pairs of socks and underwear and be fine.. wash one set, wear the other :lmao::lmao::rotfl2:

Agreed! :thumbsup2

I prefer to just use the buses, but my SO prefers having a rental car. Keep in mind that he has never actually tried the Disney buses :rolleyes2

My first 3 trips to WDW were bus only. We had a rental car for our last trip and plan to have one again this December.

We used to just take the buses and appreciate it is total "Disney immersion", then once we rented a car and now we always rent a car. It saves a ton of time. Maybe when the kids are older it won't make as much of a difference, but I did enough 30 minute late night bus lines that now I love that we are from the park and already inside our hotel room in less than that amount of time. And going from resort-to-resort is a breeze if you have dining reservations, etc. compared to waiting for a bus to take you to a park/DTD/TC to switch to another bus. There are always very cheap rental car deals out there if picking up at MCO. Last year we rented a car for 12 days for $125 including all the taxes and fees (had to pay for gas, but wasn't much since we didn't drive a great distance). Totally worth it, at least to us.

We have always used Disney transportation and never had a major problem. I actually like taking ME. The magic for me starts there. The only time I could see wanting a car was if we were going to a different resort for dinner - but we've done it many times with Disney transportation and it hasn't been an issue. I might consider it when there are fewer of us going - but we have 6 and car rentals for that many are pricey!

Maybe we have just gotten lucky on our visits, but we have never had a problem with the buses (or any other Disney transpo). I think just one time we had to wait for a second bus to take us back to BC after MK closed, but even then it was only about a 10 minute wait. And since we come from an area with practically no mass transportation, my family loves to ride the monorail any chance we get :)

this.
My husband hates to drive & I want to relax.
He said not having to drive was one of the best parts of vacation:)

We drive 1400 miles to get there and love having our own vehicle for when we can't catch the monorail. It gives us more flexibility, and since we are often there in holiday time, the crowded bus won't affect us at the end of a looooong day :)

For us it's buses, monorails, boats, taxi's, and the two feet we are blessed to have working. :goodvibes

While in WDW we believe the following philosophy:

It means no worries for the rest of your days ( at WDW that is)

It's our problem-free philosophy

Hakuna Matata!

We've always been perfectly happy with the buses. Fortunately, we've never encountered the problems that I always read about. Most of the time, we've only waited ten minutes at the most for a bus. The most we ever waited was probably 25 minutes or so and that was leaving MK on an EMH night. Getting to other resorts for dinner takes some additional planning, but we've always managed. For my part, I'd rather save the money for souvenirs and not rent a car.
