How do you transport your sunscreen when you fly?

It's best to use the lotion sunscreen, those spray on kind are absolutely worthless. Not only do they only protect just the area you manage to spray, and often times parent spray from too far away not protecting at all or too close creating lines of sunscreen, but many people around you usually don't appreciate it. If you say, you only apply it in room, well then you're not providing any protection throughout the rest of the day.

For the fair skinned, apply it heavy, apply it often, and that means you'll be applying it in the park around other people.

Put all your liquids in a gallon ziploc bag for the checked bag, including toothpaste. Although deodorant is usually safe enough to keep in the carry on.

Many times I've brought things with me one way, and had trouble going back the other way. Like the time I had a tube of toothpaste, went through fine coming to Dallas, but it didn't pass going back to Orlando.

I love the spray on sunscreen. We've been using the Neutrogena spf 45 or higher and have never had an issue. Granted, we go through several bottles during a week so it's certainly not cost effective, but I can't stand the feel of heavy sunblock. And don't dare sit in the sand with the stuff on - makes ya feel like a shake n' bake porkchop.

But OP, just throw a couple bottles in your luggage in a plastic baggie.

I just take the tubes & put them each in an individual zip loc & then all together in one big zip loc bag.

I would not use the spray sunscreen. Florida sun is ridiculous & spray suncreen does not work! (our experience anyways)

I agree, I love the spray sunscreen and I always feel like we get better coverage with it. I don't usually carry it in the parks though because we always come back to the room around lunchtime and I reapply there before heading to the pool.

I would never spray it where it would get on someone else.

I agree with all of this. I won't spray it in the room or in my own house either though. We go right outside and would never spray it if others were around. I have never had an issue. We own a pool and I have the fairest child that exists. I make sure I apply it well and often though. When going into a park I take a stick for the face and a regular lotion if need to reapply.

In checked baggage! We're fans of spray on for those long vacation days in the sun, and it can't be brought in carry-on. For the skeptics, we use Coppertone Sport SFP 30 or 45, and believe me, it works! (DH & I are, shall I say, glaringly "white"... ) If we miss a spot, it's red and it hurts... We don't spray inside, or in the middle of a queue, but somewhere away from the others, where the wind won't blow the extra on someone else.

I don't use the spray on kind. I've had to put it on the daycare children (they bring their own) and I really dislike them.

I have a Hawaiian Tropics Sport that has a mini bottle attached to a larger bottle. The small one goes in the carry on and the large one is placed in a ziplock in the checked luggage.

I also really like the kid block from Banana Boat that says sand won't stick. It doesn't feel greasy at all. I save that one for my face. Smells good too.

I am putting a travel size in my carry on and planning on checking our larger size wrapped in 2 ziploc bags just in case. I bought sunscreen down there last year (because I ran out) and it was WAAAY too expensive and I'm NOT doing that this year.

Same here! We squeeze some into the TSA approved small travel-sized bottles and pack those in our carry-ons for the first day. We put the bigger bottles in baggies in our checked luggage.

My large bottle flys in a zipplock bag in my checked bag. AT WDW I have a 3oz bottle that I fill and keep in my park bag. The larger bottle stays back in the hotel. If we run out, I bite the bullet and buy some in the parks.

We have never had any problems with the spray sunscreen. We find someplace away from other guests, and spray away. My only complaint is that you go thru it much faster than you do liquid sunscreen.

I also have a sunscreen stick that I use on my hair part and on my ears. I had sunburn on my ears once, and it was pretty painful.

I burn very easily. I use spray sunscreen and have never had a problem. When I used the lotion there always seemed to be one spot that I missed. I no longer have that problem. I don't rub it in either. Our family likes Banana Boat. Of course I use ALOT of spray. We also use the stick for nose, ears and face.

I just find that the spray cans don't last very long. One bottle of spray costs the same as one bottle of lotion. However, the spray bottle seems to be used up in one day at the pool while the lotion lasts awhile.

My favorite sunscreen for the body is a Banana Boat SQUIRT type (think a pump trigger bottle). I think you get better coverage over large areas than the aerosol kind without the goop of the regular sunscreen. We still use the regular kind for faces, but with four kids, using the trigger type and letting them rub it in really saves time! I haven't seen it at Target, but I do find it at Walmart.

I thought of this thread yesterday when iwas standing outside CVS when some guy started spraying sunscreen on his head. He had his back to the door so he got a few people there and the a backwind got me covered a bit too.

Back on topic...I pack all liquids in my checked bag. I normally put everything in a zip OC and then just a plastic grocery bag. But on our last trip, I put the liquids in one of those rubbermaid shoe boxes. It was great for keeping everything organized at the resort and we had something that protected a fragile item we purchased while we were in Orlando.

if you do get the spray, just try to get the pump type.

our aerosol container burst in checked luggage last year, and the pressure broke thu the 2 zip lock bags it was in. we've had aerosols before that made the trip without a prob, but won't take that chance again - it's just not worth it

al leakables go in zip lock bags. I bring the box with me so that we can do the same,,,heaven forbid it does make a mess.

Stuff like shampoo, lotions, toothpaste.etc plastic bags...

We allso use the bags in the parks, when we get food in a resturant that will travel (chicken, candy, pretzel...) instead of throwing it away, wip out the plasctic baggy, and pop in my bag (its always big enough for a sweater, cameras etc. and later when some one whines they are hungry...ta dah!! snack.
