How do you train during vacation?

Hi! I'll be in the Baltimore Half as a walker on October 14. But first (and more importantly :goodvibes ) I'll be vacationing at WDW in mid-August.

I'll miss 3 scheduled training days while on vacation: 4 mile, 9 mile, 4 mile days.

What should I do? Just shrug it off as "oh well, I'll get back on track when I'm home." Or, should I find a way to work some dedicated training walks into my days? :confused3 BTW, the Baltimore Half will be my first ever competitive event. I'm doing it as a warm-up to the WDW Half.

I'd appreciate some guidance. Thanks.

Here's some tips from allears: http://allearsnet.com/btp/running.htm

I've run from SSR through DTD first thing in the a.m. Great run...CMs are out and friendly, music playing, very nice. There's also a trail to OKW, but I haven't found that one yet.

My favorite is around BW, BC/YC and the Swolphin area. Did my 6 mile LR for the Minnie there. You can run all the way to MGM and around the lake at BW. If you plan well, you can finish in time for breakfast at BW Bakery.

POR/POFQ along the Sassagoula river is nice, but watch out for the CM vehicles.

disneyrunning.com has some maps of where to walk/run at WDW.

I woudl think with the amount of walking you do at WDW, teh 4-milers would not be a big miss. However, I'd do somethign to try to get that9-miler in. At the very least, try to do and extra 3 to 5 plus your daily WDW walking.

I think it would be worthwhile to really try and get them in if you can.

That said, Carrie's right-- if you are going to miss something, miss the shorter walks and do the 9 miler. I see you are staying at BWV-- I highly recommend doing your walk around the Crescent Lake area. Wonderful scenery, no cars, and usually lots of your fellow runners/walkers out there early in the morning.

Sounds like you are doing great with your training so far. I hope you let us know how the Baltimore Half goes. My hometown isn't too far from there and I'd love to hear about the race and course!

Thanks everybody. I'll do my best. Will let you know how it turns out.
