How Do You "Tour" OKW ???

We will be in WDW next week and will be staying at SSR for two days. But we'd like to somehow unofficially tour OKW. We'd like to get a look at either the one or two bedroom suites but I don't know if you can just go to the resort and simply ask to see a suite.

Also, what times are the preview rooms open at SSR?

I did the same thing when planning a trip and wanting to see a Grand Villa. Realize that you "may" need to wait a few minutes, but I just stood in line and told them that I was a new DVC member and I was planning a big family trip and wondered if someone on staff would be able to show me a GV.

Not only did he show me, but he drove me and told me all about the resort. I offered him a tip and he said no, but I would have felt better if he had taken it since he spent so much time with me.

I also asked for a check-in packet from Guest Services with the resort map and such.

Also remember that if it is holiday time, it might be harder to actually see a room if they are booked.

Good Luck - Diane:thumbsup2

If the resort is booked or the rooms aren't clean, they may not be able to show you a room. That isn't unusual. But its worth poking around the resort anyway to get a feel for it.

As long as there is an unoccupied and clean villa, the resort will usually be happy to allow a tour of a villa. I'd suggest trying on a Friday in the early afternoon if possible - especially if you will be there during a busy time - since they are more likely to have something available to show you. If you ask at 9:00am, there may be nothing cleaned to show you and if you ask at 8pm on a Sunday, all villas may be occupied. ... but, the staff is very helpful with such requests, so by all means ask!

Good luck! :)

get a grand tour of the rooms we were unfamiliar with.

Ditto on the CM tellings us things we would like to know, etc.

When we were at OKW in May, we were curious about our BCV accommodations- BCV staff were very gracious!

I believe the AKV preview rooms, located at SSR, are open between 5:00 and 7:00.

Maybe someone else who's been there more recently can confirm.

If you just want to see the model rooms without someone giving you the complete DVC presentation, the AKV and SSR preview rooms are open from 5 -7. We asked the DVC front desk where the preview rooms were and someone walked us over to the AKV and then pointed to the building with the SSR rooms across the street. I thought the AKV rooms were a little dark without having the natural light coming through the window. It has "fake" window dressing, so there isn't any natural light in the room. There weren't any CMs available to answer questions at the time when we toured.

The SSR rooms are actual rooms that they have set aside for folks to view. The CMs stationed in the SSR models are very helpful even told us that people are having small weddings in the GVs.

I'd suggest calling OKW front desk once you're on property and tell them you'd like to see a room if possible, and can they suggest a likely day and time during the next few days?

When we went in May 2006 and did this, they were able to tell us that Wed was the lowest occupancy point for the week and would be the easiest day to let us take a look around.

We were told it is best to NOT call or go on Sunday or Friday as these are the busiest checkin and out days and earlier in the day is better than later because checkins start at 4 pm.

The Staff was very friendly all the way around.

Good Luck!
