How do you tote your stuff around DL?

This is probably a stupid question from a DL newbie, but I'd love to know how everyone carries their stuff around the park. I've read to let my tweens/teens bring iPods and Gameboys to use while waiting in long lines. I'd also like to bring a digital camera and my son wants to bring his small video camera.

So what do we do with all this stuff when we go on Space Mountain or Splash Mountain or any ride/attraction? It's tough keeping track of hats and sunglasses during regular sightseeing, but I'm not sure how we'll handle all of our stuff when it comes time to board rides. Do they even let you bring purses or tote bags on the rides?

Thanks for your tips!:flower3:

We used to just wear a fanny pack, but this year we got smart and brought in our own water bottles! So we brought a small backpack. Kept our water bottles, camera, and my son's DS when we went and found the special "X" to download special features to the Pirate game! ;)

Worked out well. Now I usually don't go on the hard rides, so I would carry the backpack when they went on Space and Splash. I could see it as an issue if everyone goes, maybe someone will have some tips on securing things!

we have always taken our back packs on the rides with us. I even took my backpack on Rock N Rollercoaster at WDW which is a looping rollercoaster. I hooked it around my legs which is what they recommended that I did!

ya i was told to slip my legs in the loop of my bag and set it on the ground. I will get a fanny pack for this year for me rt and stephen, and have our bag doing the same thing..also they told us to put our camra (witch straped on my shoulder arms head..they said put it in my shirt it worked well

I loved rocking rollercoster stephen hates those kind rides and he went on it for me and we got free pic becouse of a free pic we won on new animal kingdom ride...the ride broke down right after 3hours standing in line..we were so poor i cryed becouse the pic was our main suviner the only thing we could get my son (from his real dads spending money for him) was the micky thingy in the pic.. thisnov we have much more to spend and gona have fun and make up for it all

I take one of those little purse-backpacks because its so small and light and mine is water proof for Splash mtn! And they do let you bring your bags on rides, in fact most have a little velcro compartment to put them in so they don't fall out!

I try not to tote too much around the park. Fanny packs are the best bet. Stroller thefts recently have gotten me away from keeping anything there. I'll alway buy a locker for the day for those things that we bring that we will only need once or maybe not at all (jackets, lunch, wife's purse, etc.)

Thanks so much for the info! I never would've guessed you can bring a backpack on the rides! I'll have to pick up a mini backpack -- that should work wonderfully. I'm also surprised to hear that they let you bring your own water bottles into the park -- is that really true? Are there any restrictions on what kind of water bottle it is (like a refillable Nalgene -vs- a bottle of Dasani)?

Thanks again -- I can hardly wait!:cheer2:

Their only real restriction is that you can't bring glass bottles in. Saw someone ahead of us lose their Starbucks Frappucino bottled drink, while we went in with our water bottles (some sealed, some unsealed).

I carry my Rick Steves brand backpack b/c it's lightweight and carries much more than one expects it to.

I actually don't remember what coasters I went on with it, because we do child swap and I *think* we leave things behind with the stay-with-the-kiddo people. But I DO know that Indiana has a mesh pocket thing for stuff you bring on. And I think other rides do, too.

actely ill have the fannie packs and the bag of pirets of carribian off of the disney site. me and my fionce will each have one.

Same here; My backpack has ridden Rock N Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror (DLR & WDW), Space Mountain (WDW), Splash Mountain (DLR & WDW); Big Thunder Mountain (DLR & WDW), etc... Heck, I think that backpack has ridden more things than I have. :)

We bring in a med sized camel bak (water bag) in it is 2 liters of water and ice, and stuff like wallet, keys, money and sunblock. We bring a second bag with sweat shirts and other socks and such and that bag goes in the locker. The Gf has a belt clip for her digital camera case.

Where is this "special X"?

I have a small backpack that I take now. I used to use my fanny pack, but my teenager (who is the only one that will go to the park with me...my family is no fun..lol) has "banned" it's use in her company. The backpack actually works better for us. We get a locker for our jackets and the extra water bottles (and the blanket if we are there for something that will require us to sit on the ground). You can access the locker as many times as you want during the day. I take the back pack with me on every ride. Sometimes it fits in the little holders, sometimes I have to slip my leg(s) through. The camera and maps stay dry.

My mom and I each carry our own bag. I have a small bag that I can put across my body so that my hands are free. It carries my digital camera, chap stick, hair brush, maps, and tickets. My mom carries a slightly larger bag that she keeps on her shoulder and puts on her lap during rides. However, we do not go on faster rides, so our bags have never been a problem for us.

Can we also bring snacks and sandwiches in our backpacks? Its been couple of years since we went to DL, i know they're pretty strict about stuff that you can bring inside the park.

We just use a small backpack to put everything in. We have plastic bags for the electronics for the wet rides we do together, or we split up and do them in two different groups. The are 6 of us and this works very well. The teens take turns carrying the backpack, never buy anything until the end of the day and we are headed back to the park.

umm do you know those space bags..

I just had an idea for a towl or jacket or blanket. put it in the travel bags and vacume out and those littel rolled up would fit in a bag. So you would have the stuff if you need it, and if not well its there for emergince and take up littel to no room (i just thought of this)

I was worried aboput my new jacket getting soked on splash so was thinking what to use. i think space bag would be good.

I try to keep my stuff to a minimum when I go to the parks because I know by the end of the night, I'll be sick of lugging stuff around. I usually carry a small purse (the NBC that's being sold in DL now) with my cell, money, cards, lipstick, fold up brush, and compact. If I want to bring in anything else, I usually get a locker and store it there, along with a change of shoes and sweater.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland are the ONLY places in the United States where it is socially acceptable to sport a fannie pack. You will in no way look "cool" but you won't be mocked or laughed at. Teenagers in your party will protest to your wearing of the fannie pack but other guests will understand and refrain from judgement.

There are absolutely NO exceptions to this rule.

Some healthcare professionals use them in the course of their jobs but in IMHO they look ridiculous.

I can't comment on the acceptability of fannie packs at other Disney parks, because I haven't visited.

But I can add that you will look totally ridiculous in all major cities in Europe, Mexico, and Canada rocking a fannie pack.

I sported a fannie pack for the first time in May, and found them to be perfect for Disney touring. Although, it is imperitive that the fannie pack be removed upon leaving Disney property or you will look like a dork at the airport.

lol now thats just funny. I am gona get one just for the trip, but we also have our pirets bags those will make the ugly fanni packs not make us look un cool. lol but ya i rember when i wore fanni packs and got teased at school lol i had my glasses in it
