How do you store your swaps?

Now that I have a ton of goodies and more on the way, I need to think about taking them out of the packaging. How do you store and organize the items you received in swaps?

Mine are in plastic pokets in an overstuffed lever arch file - there's no room for the recent swaps so they're piled around my scrap corner :guilty: I think I'll have to find a separate place for the Disney stuff as all I've got to use it on before 2009 is a double page spread on honeymoon (once I get round to moving the pics from a photo album) :lmao: I'm sure there's a better way - I literally put all of one swap in one pocket except for the monthly page kit swap, which I'm slowly working through (used up to April so far....)

in a large pile of bags since I haven't decided where to put them yet

I got some regular file folders and sewed up both sides so stuff won't fall out. I have put them in a filing cabinet and have things sorted by AK, MCK, MGM, Epcot and Characters.....then within those groups- I have park specific things. Now I am going through my stash and adding things that I have like Jolees and stuff. I am really digging it so far.

Where I store myself depends on what it is and when I plan on using it. For example since I knew I had just printed my Pirate and Princess Party Pictures as I was sorting the swap it just moved over to the area I keep my current work in to be used. I have the fireworks things and a couple of other pieces still there since I haven't scraspped those yet.

If I know I will be using most things from a swap soon I generally just store it in the ziplock near my scrapping area (I have a cabinet to put things away in). Things that won't be used until I get around to that album go in binders divided by type of thing for Disney parks(divided up), Pooh characters, Princesses, and for others I keep them in the binders together by subject: school stuff, holidays and months by the month.

Stuff that isn't specific for a thing such as the color swap things- nonspecific photomats and journal boxes and such go into a bag at my scrap area to use when I need that kind of an item on the page.

I  it! You sew everything!
I have tons of file folders. I may have to use duck tape on the sides as I can't sew. But this is a great way to use up what I already have. Thanks.

Smart thinking! I LOVE this idea! (and AWM, I'm with you on the duck tape!)

Plain manila file folders are so cheap to buy in a big box and then you can just pull out what you need. I just drop the zip lock baggies into the appropriate folder when I get a swap back.

Hmmmm....I have an empty file cabinet in my scrap room so I like that idea. But, I almost never actually scrap in that room. I am usually in the dining room instead of the basement. So for the binder people, please spell it out for me -- you put them in 3 ring page protectors or is it something specific you buy for the binder? Right now, I am limiting my purchases to things I need for swaps and staple products like adhesives and cardstock.

8.5 x 11 page protectors, 4x6 pp and baseball card pp. I would post pics but the DIS is having some d o t c o m issues right now. When it is fixed I will post pics.

hey everything is back to normal!!!!

I love the binder. The file cabinet may be more cost effective for me, but I really liked looking through your binder.

Hey, can you sign me up for that effective time management course? I think I need it since I am typing this out at midnight instead of sleeping.

Can't help you there!!! I stink at time management. LOL

As for the binders, they were cost effective cause DH had them laying around.

So is this your MK binder that we are looking at or do you have the pieces broken down even further by land?

That is Adventureland. I have mine broken down by land for AK and MK, country in Epcot and no real breakdown for MGM. I also have binders for seasons, holidays, letters, WDW xmas. WDW halloween, rub ons, resorts, restaurants, etc....

Wow, that's alot of binders! Where do you keep them all?

I'm starting on Buffy's system. So far so good. I don't have mine nearly as broken down as her but maybe once I get them all semi broken down I can take the different areas and break it even farther. My DH is still amazed at how many pages it is taking but so far it looks so much better then laying in the plastic bags on my bookshelf that needs to be moved since its in what will be the babies room.
