How do you store Frogg Togg Chilly Pads?

I was originally thinking of storing our Chilly Pads in quart sized zip loc bags but as they sit here in their original packaging I see that there is condensation on the inside of the plastic even though I've never wet them... is that a problem? Will they mildew? How do you store yours while touring the parks?

I take mine in the container they came in. Also, they are impervious to mold and mildew

Thanks! We're trying to avoid a full sized back pack for this trip and considering there are 4 of us...

btw, I read part of your thread on pins. Very helpful and valuable information. You mentioned a Disney Outlet. Does that still exist? Where is it?

I store in original container also. There is a small vent hole in it for breatheability.

After reading the big Chilly Pad thread yesterday I stopped and picked up a couple on my way home, ready for our WDW trip tomorrow. I found there were two different types of original packaging, one was the thicker "frosted" look plastic and one was a very thin clear plastic that looked like it would break if crushed or twisted. I bought the thicker kind because I intended to keep them in the original packaging.

This is wrong - the #1 complaint about this product is that it gets moldy and the mold is almost impossible to kill when it starts because of the porous nature of the fabric.

If you store them dry they get stiff, but they do not get moldy.

I agree, mine molded, even in original container in the fridge.

Which I guess leads us back to the original question: How SHOULD they be stored? When they get stiff, can they be softened up again with water?

Or could you maybe put a drop of bleach in the container to avoid the mold?

Just wanted to say that I recently went to get my frog toggs out of my disney bag, and one was totally molded. It was stored in a ziplock bag for about a year. I ended up just throwing it away. For some reason the other one did not mold, so I laid it out to throw in the washer and forgot..so of course it gets as hard as plastic..but as soon as I put it in water it softened right back up!

Exactly how I store mine when not in use. I left mine in the container by accident after a round of golf and it was a big, mildewed, stinky rag. I washed it in hot water with some borax and baking soda and, although it faded it, it's fine now. I hang mine up on a "pants" hanger: the kind with the clips on each end, so when they dry stiff, at least they're straight. I also know if I hang them up this way, there's no cracks or crevices for leftover moisture for mildew to start. I run them under warm to hot water to get them back to a rag, then store them in the fridge the night before I want to use them. I also store them "all but" dripping wet in the fridge. That way, they're good and cold the next day. I have 3 of them. Love them.

Ok, I'm new to the Frogg Toggs thing. I just bought one a few days ago for upcoming WDW trip in two weeks. I've read the directions, but apparently I'm not very smart. And I keep hearing different ways of using these things. So, how DO you use these things? How do you prepare them? How to they work?

So, anyone who doesn't carry them around the park in the original containers, how do you carry them around the parks?

Off to take mine out of the original containers, don't need them moldy!

I would use ziploc baggies. We stored ours in the containers ...I actually kept them in the fridge until we left for the park and they were super cold when we got there. I just kept rewetting them. If they do get moldy it won't happen in one day at the park even if kept in the container the entire day. Just lay them out when you get home and let them dry out.

I had the same experience. Even the plastic container ended up smelling moldy. Now, I just store them dry.

To those of you who cut yours in half, do you cut them lengthwise or width wise? I just bought off-white ones at Wal-Mart!
