Hey friends! I am going nuts. Briefly, my mom had colon cancer treatment 3 years ago. Some concerns came up in the last couple of months, and last week she had a CT scan. "They" call and give very basic info that "they" are concerned about liver. Now we have 2 weeks until the ultrasound.

I HATE this waiting! Her cancer treatment/surgery was my first intro to the "sandwich generation". It was so hard. Now I am just attempting to support her, and my sibs, who are not local. Argh!

Please keep me in your prayers if possible. I don't know if I have the strength to deal with this again. Not that, in the end, I will have a choice!

Michelle

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I do know that the waiting is the worst part. Try to hang in there and remember to try to keep your Mom as busy as possible to try and divert her attention as well.

Its amazing how much strength you will find out that you do have. Keep being strong-its appreciated more than you will ever know.

Take Care
Trish

My thoughts are with you too. One of the hardest things to do is to wait on those results. I know when we thought my mom had colon cancer the waiting about did me in, I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. {{{hugs}}} and best wishes that your mom's results are good.

Thanks guys! We are living in the world of "DENIAL" right now! You know, support, but try not to stress each other out. Frankly, I just feel like barfing! I am so strung out!

I do try to keep her busy, and have convinced her to go visit my sis for a week. Staying with them will keep her body, mind and soul busy!

Thanks again!

Michelle

I am in sort of the same fix my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on Sat now we are trying to get in with the oncologist to see what if anything can be done. My FIL just died after a 2 year battle with lung cancer. my prayers go out to you and I hope your news is good.:grouphug: :grouphug:

I'm sorry you are going through this. My best friend has been in the same position a few times as her mom was "cancer free" for a few years, but recently they found more cancer and they have had a rough time--but waiting for the results was so hard on them. However, her mom just finished the last round of chemo and is hopefully on the road to a strong recovery.

Stay positive, we're thinking of you

Michelle-
I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. I can't imagine how hard it is to wait. Good luck and keep us posted!

Michelle,
You and your Mom will be in my thoughts and prayers. I've been the one waiting before myself and all I can tell you is, I drew my strength from my family. There love and support got me through my illness. Be there for her as much as you can and let her know you love her.

Waiting IS the hardest part but it gives you time to contemplate many things. And to pray if that is what you do.

But the harder part is once you get the news and if it's that more treatment needs to be sought waiting until that starts and then the first appointment after that to see how things are going. That IS, IMO, the hardest part. The time between treatment and appointments. It does teach you tolerance, patience and time to spend more quality time with the person that is involved. It's, unfortunately, I very hard wake up call about how precious time can be.

Hang in there and lean on us if you need to.

mermaidlady, right back at you! It is so hard! I never knew that we were going to have to be the grown-ups!

Thanks friends. I knew others must have been through it too!

Cheyita, nervous energy does wonders for the post count!

All of you will be in our thoughts.

Please keep us updated.

I'm a little surprised that they are making you wait 2 weeks for the ultrasound.

I know that feeling... waiting is always the hardest. I will keep you all in my prayers

floridafam, me too! You know how the mind works...if they are waiting 2 weeks, maybe it isn't the issue that we are afraid of! I have only begun to look into liver cancer, so I don't know how fast it is.

There was NO waiting for the colon cancer. She had pain and a day later most of her colon was gone, and was in chemo two weeks later! Noever thought that was a blessing!

Maybe if she calls, they can get her in sooner.

I would take it as a good sign that they are letting her wait.

My brother had colon cancer. He went in for surgery within a day or two after they found the tumor. He then had chemo and we thought it was gone but it came back in his liver. After the Dr. called about the liver, he went in the next day. That is why you should take it as a good sign that she doesn't go in for the ultrasound for two weeks.

PM me if you want more info or if you have any other questions.

Hang in there.

I know what you are going through except in my case it's my DH. He had major colon surgery last September, chemo and they've just confirmed that it's in his liver. My thoughts are with you. Keep your spirits up. I know how hard it is.

CarolynU,

You and your DH will also be in my thoughts.

My brother went to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota after they found it in his liver. He also traveled to Tennessee for experimental treatments.

If anyone just needs to vent or talk or anything, post here or PM me. I'll listen.

Gosh, my thoughts and prayers to all of you going through difficult health situations!

You all are so sweet. I did just really need to talk! I really appreciate the information shared. I am hoping that it is positive that there isn't an "emergency" reaction to this. Thanks floridafam!

CarolynU I am so sorry that you are going through this with your husband. I can't imagine that, yet. My prayers for you and him.

MIchelle
