How do you solos get from airport to resort?

Hi
I would love to use ME as a solo traveler but I can't as I'm flying into Sanford from London Gatwick. My tour operator has included transfers onto the price of the holiday but I'm really uncertain as to what the service will be like.
I don't drive and once I'm on resort will use WDW transportation to get around. I hear that its pretty cool.

My first 100% solo trip to WDW (anywhere, actually) was almost 3 years ago and I used Tiffany Towncar. That akwardness you mentioned was definitely there. The driver was a bit standoffish and while I didn't feel I was in danger, I didn't feel completely comfortable either. I used another company for my family a few months later. Drivers were great, company was ok. A few months later with my nephew, I tried another company, Sunray Transportation, and was happy to learn that the great drivers I had before had started their own company. Haven't used anyone else since. I've used them for 2 of my trips with my nephews and 2 trips solo. Felt much more comfortable and highly recommend them. It could be that I had already used them with family, so it wasn't like stepping blind into a vehicle with a strangeer, but they are really customer oriented, so I think it's just something that comes naturally. Will be taking 3 more solo trips this year and wouldn't think of using anyone but Sunray. Like you, I just cringe at the thought of having to use Mears in any way, shape, or form. Have heard to many horror stories, so why switch when I have something I know works?? Good luck!

I always used the Mears shuttle in the pre-DME days. Just because I'm weird, now that there's a free option, I can't seem to stop renting cars! I rented an intermediate from National last fall for about $160 for a week. Last week, I rented an intermediate from Alamo for $115 for a week. Both times, I ended up taking DME back to the airport to take advantage of the airport check-in. If I hadn't been meeting up with a friend who was staying off property, I probably wouldn't have rented a car this trip. Since I did, I took full advantage of it. It's astonishing how easily I can find the Super Target on Orange Blossom Trail now!

If you feel more comfortable with a towncar, I say go for it. Just make sure you take advantage of the grocery stop- if only to buy a case of bottled water!
