I feel like I should know this, and actually done it before, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to see the remaining balance due on my account for my resort, starting on Saturday.

I’m on my iPad, using Chrome. Do I need to download the app for this?

IIRC, it should show when you look at “My Plans, Reservations, and Tickets” and hit “Show Details” on your resort reservation.

I couldn’t find it at all, but I’ll look at the app and see if I’m just missing it on the browser. Thank you!

Following.....
I can't find it either....I had to go back to the email they sent when I made the reservation.

To find the charges folder on the MDE app:

Go to the home page (it should open to that page)
Scroll down to your resort
Click on the words My Resort on the right side under the picture of a bed
There will be a folder named View Charges - open it and you should see your charges if you made the reservation using your MDE account.

You can also click on My Plans, which is located on the bottom left side of your first fastpass
Your resort will be listed and you click on View Room Details to see the folder

Nope not there. It only shows the total cost of the package but not my remaining balance.

Are you still not able to make payments towards your balance online? Do you still need to do it over their automated phone system?

I don’t see any where to make a payment online. I haven’t really tried though, I just booked our reservation a week ago.

I called yesterday and made a payment for our room only reservation. I was told I could see the balance on the MDE app. I asked if that was new because I was never able to before, he said not new. Went to MDE and followed your directions and the “ View charges folder” is not there. I only see that folder when I’m checked in at the resort.

You should be able to see it if you do online check in. I can see mine right now for my trip 2 months away.

You can make payments for packages online, but not room only reservations.

Is there any public reason why this is? It just seems so odd to me.

Probably just because packages need to be paid in full 30 days in advance, while room only doesn't need to be paid in full until you get there. So while it would be nice to have the option for room only, it isn't strictly necessary like it is for packages.

Doing the online check in was the missing key. I don’t normally do check in this far out but that did the trick. Thank you.

Most likely because room only and packages are on 2 different booking and payment systems. It's the same reason why if you book a package or room only, then want to change to the other booking type you have to make a new deposit and wait for a refund for what you already paid towards the original booking. They can't just move whatever money you've paid to the new reservation type. Gotta love WDW IT.

I actually wonder if this is some sort of obscure FL law regarding hotels and payments and such. I have a vague recollection that I've read something about that but can't recall back that far
I noticed the company that you purchase from has a slightly different DBA name when you book a package vs. a room only.
Room only says Disney Destinations LLC
Packages say Walt Disney Travel Co
Heck, the differences go way back, that's for sure.

Not that that really gives a valid reason WHY you can't pay both online, just that it may not fully be Disney IT that separates things
