How do you save movies taken with a Digital Camera?.......

I tried doing a search and nothing came up! I know how to edit photos, save them to disk, etc, etc, etc, -

But I have just recently taken some short video movies using my digital camera and can't quite figure out how to save them - Do I save to a DVD?VCD? Do I need editing software or can I just burn it directly from my SD card?


If anyone can shed some light on the subject for me, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALL of the above.

You CAN burn to dvd movie, dvd data, vcd, or cd data, it is all your choice.
Editing software is optional, but burning directly from SD card may not be possible if the burning is faster than the transfer rate from the card it will speed up the process(conversion and burning) if you transfer files from the card to your hard drive first.

Software like Nero burning rom does automatic conversion of the file formats, so you pretty much choose the media(dvd movie, vcd, etc...) and it will convert to the proper format for you. But if you know how to do it all by yourself go for it.

I don't know what camera you have, but most older camera's tend to take the movies at 320x240 which, imo, is not really going to look decent as a DVD. If your camera takes them at 640x480, they might look decent, but you won't see the quality of a real DV video camera. Just something to keep in mind.

As the poster above said, remove the video off the SD card. You can also try Windows Movie Maker if you are a windows user, or my preference iMovie if you are a Mac user. Both give you output options at the end for DVD, and both will allow you to stitch all your clips together or what have you.
