You can also pay with PayPal for added security; just make sure you rent from somebody who accepts it.

Poor advice there. The reality is that, in a rental transaction, PayPal offers buyers a false sense of security and gives sellers an added expense to deal with. Read their user agreement sometime.

As far as giving sellers an additional expense, that can be passed onto the renters. Depending upon what credit card you use, it is extremely easy to dispute a PayPal purchase when you have legitimately been cheated in a transaction.
