How Do You Rate Boma?

Out of the 6 sit down restaurants we went to last May, Boma is one of the only 2 that we will DEFINITELY be returning to. The other restaurants were all ok, but Boma (& Ohana) are definite musts for us!

We went 2 years ago for dinner. We really were not impressed and will not return on our trip this summer. We didn't really care for the food selection and the atmosphere was just Ok. We tried it because there were so many people on here that just raved about it...just wasn't our taste.

To me Boma is OK. It is better than other buffets. We really liked it the first time we went, but not as much the second. There is a certain rotation on food items and I guess we hit it better the first time than the second.

For DH and I, Boma is amazing.

We love it. It is a pain to get to but we always rent a car so that isn't an issue for us.

For us, Boma is a must every trip. We love it

It is a must do for me. I like the flavors and variety, and the setting in the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Well, you just can't argue about the setting. As soon as I saw it, I bought DVC!
Jiko and Sanaa are better matches for me in the food department though.

We did not really care for it. The staff was almost rude and the food was alright but I am pretty picky. My husband who eats everything though couldnt find anything he wanted to eat!

Never one hint of rudeness to us - excellent service - is a must-do with us every time we go :thumbsup2 We never even get dinner ressies (don't like being tied down to a day) so we just go early, put our names in and get seated quickly after opening (there's 2 of us, so that may help, don't know). The food is great!

My husband chose Boma for breakfast after reading all the rave reviews.

It was ok but not worth the time unless you are staying at AK. We like Tuskerhouse just as much at it is so much more convenient on AK day.

Try if staying at AK but skip it if staying somewhere else.

I was there for breakfast last year and was underwhelmed. It was not as good as I had hoped (and heard). Maybe dinner is better:confused3

On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 7. We like it but dont feel like its a must do for us. Food is flavorful, very filling. Desserts are top notch.

I like it here for breakfast (there is very little for dinner I would eat), but it's nothing spectacular. If you are using resort transportation, it's kinda a pain to get to the Lodge, as you have to go to AK, then change buses to AKL, then it stops at AKV first, then it stops at AKL.

This is why I always say that opinions are like belly buttons! Everybody has one & they're all different! :thumbsup2

My kids were 6 & 8 on our last trip and we really enjoyed our two dinners at Boma (we spent 10 days at AKL) - my kids are adventerous eaters though and aren't big fans of the kids' menus at Disney.

Is it a "must do" for us? Well, if we are staying at AKL or Kidani, then yes. If we are staying in the MK area and don't have a rental car, probably not.

I think Boma's problem is it's somewhere in between. For picky eaters, there are a lot of "strange" foods with unfamiliar spices. For adventurous eaters, they'll find the flavors not strong enough. It's that problem of Disney trying to cater to a larger group, but not really satisfying either end...

With that said, I love Boma and it's one of my favorite restaurants at Disney. There's plenty for my kids to enjoy, and I get to sample lots of different dishes that I don't get to try every day. Would I prefer a really traditional buffet with lots of spice and heat? Heck yeah, but the rest of my family would revolt! Everytime we've been, everyone has come away happy and satisfied...

We are staying at Disney next week and only have two reservations, Biergarten in Epcot, and Boma.
