I like it when the OP includes links in their first post for that particular review. I don't like having to search through reviews for the ones that I want to read.

If I want to know about a specific restaurant, I ask via my own thread. The restaurant reviews are informative, but I read them for "general info" mostly. Also, I feel if someone is taking the time to write a review, the format that he/she is comfortable writing is fine with me. :goodvibes

Is it really that difficult to click on one post to see if the entire thread does or doesn't have a review that you're interested in?

It is if you're looking for specific information and not just leisurely browsing the review forum. Because then, you wouldn't just have to click on one topic, but every topic to hunt for (say) all recent dining reviews for Le Cellier. I've tried using the search engine for this and the results aren't always the best. I either end up getting a lot of unrelated posts or it misses posts pertinent to my search.

As for making it more cluttered, why would you have to make a new topic just for you? I've seen review forums on other places where everyone posts their reviews for that particular item (in this case, restaurant) in the same topic. It can be difficult to set the time frame of your search parameters too. When you're just going through the forum, it's easy to see what's been posted when.

I don't know. I guess it's the difference between something being more fun or being more helpful/useful. I clearly gravitate more toward the latter. I mean I could just start yet another topic every time I'm looking for information, but what's the use of having so much information on the boards if I can't find it myself?

I agree with you disgrits.:) I will also just ask about restaurants on a thread I am familiar with myself. And since we don't venture out much beyond The Earl, I read these reviews for the soul purpose of being thoroughly entertained. I am NEVER disappointed. :yay:

You hit the nail right on the head here! It's so true. Some consider all reviews to be fun which is awesome!! Others go for research and don't read reviews for entertainment purposes.

I would guess that those liking reviews for entertainment mainly prefer one thread per reviewer. Those that prefer to read reviews for research would like to see one restaurant per thread.

I'm finding this pretty amusing, especially when people give details as to what they prefer. I like when a reviewer does XYZ in this order. I just think of it as people doing us a favor by passing on information. Sometimes its entertaining and informative other times it's just informative.

If you get right down to it how useful are any reviews. We don't know if the person is a fussy pain in the butt or extremely picky, so I go into reading reviews as mostly entertainment anyway.

I know that my threads get very long, and I do everything I can to make them as reader-friendly as possible. Each update is specifically listed in the thread title along with the post number. The first post of the thread includes a table of contents with a direct link to each review. Quite frankly I don't know how to make it any easier for both readers and me.
I agree with you. I also keep a table of contents in my first post. Also, OT, but your reviews are one of my favorites. :goodvibes
