How do you plan your dining w/ a WDW Newbie?

I'm planning a trip for me and my mom in August '08, and she's willing to help out, but she's a busy woman- I don't expect her to consume every little bit of planning info before the trip. I want her input on restaurants, but I don't want to force her to read every review, travel guide description or menu out there.

Any suggestions?

I'm taking 3 newbies in Sept and I asked what they wanted to eat or what they wouldn't eat. They all said whatever I booked. I hope they meant it. We're 4 middle aged guys and we're doing HDD, LTT, 50's PTC, Biergarten, WCC, R&C and Donald's Breakfastsaurus.

Some of my favorites are Spoodles for dinner, Yacht Club Galley for buffet breakfast, then in the countries, England, France, Japan...I love Raglan Road in DTD.. Are you interested in doing character meals??

I took my in laws in Sept for their first trip and made all arrangements. I knew their basic taste in food just by knowing them and I went from there. WDW can be incredibly overwhelming to a first time guest and they were just thankful that I had everything planned in advance and all they had to do was follow and eat!

They truly loved just about every spot we went.

I would personally just ask her if it's okay if you make reservations for places you think she'd like and just do it.

I'd say that you should just book what you think is good. She's your mom so you should have a decent idea of her tastes (i.e. if she doesn't eat red meat, you won't take her to the Yachtsman). A personal recommendation is worth much more than just glancing at some menu online.
