How do you pay when renting a last minute DVC rental?

How do most people who rent last minute, say 3 months out or less, pay? Is there a preference?

probably the full amount in paypal, check from your bank, or if you are the trusting type - a check from the renter

I took a check on my only ever rental that came after the renter had stayed at the resort (it was truly last minute--like in less than a week). My thought was they were points I couldn't use and would lose (due to a resale contract with banked points). It all worked out--they didn't stiff me, and they got quite a deal as well.
