I've been lurking on this board for awhile, but now that I'm officially a :bride: to be, I'm :yay: :yay: :yay:

I just got engaged this past weekend and we've tentatively decided that February 2009 would give us enough time to save and our relatives enough time to plan to come to our Disney Wedding.

I cannot wait to be married to DF (after two days of engagement.. heh)! How do you girls help pass the time? I feel it's too early to start planning, but I almost bought things for my flower girl's welcome bag today :rotfl:. I feel like a woman obsessed... :dance3:

this is EXACTLY why i couldn't wait...we got engaged at the very end of july, and i got my ring at the end of aug (it had to be sized like 700 times), i REALLY wanted a december wedding, but 4 months wasn't enough time, after 5+ years of dating there was no way i was waiting a whole year, so we're getting married in jan. i have 94 days to go and i have so much to do, but that's STILL not taking up enough of my time! i'm just so excited! (i'm too excited to sleep!). so to answer your question, i lurk on the dis boards, order things from ebay, work on my welcome bags, obsess over my dress etc...

Helloirishkitty, congratulations! The time is gonna fly by for you, believe me. ;)

It's really never too early to start planning. Try to come up with a list of items (for example, photography, videography, food, beverage, music and entertainment) that are really important to you and your future husband. If you can do that, you've won half the battle and the planning part will be a lot easier. Also, work on your budget. Determine exactly (give or take a few dollars) what you are willing to spend. And then stick to your guns. This is when your list of "items that are most important to us" will come into play. Hopefully, everything on that list can be incorporated into your FTW event without breaking your budget.

Again, congrats on your engagement. How exciting!

Thanks for the great advice! I'm an organization queen so I'm going to start making a binder today with lists in it :)

I did the same thing as Caryndisneydiva... I got engaged in July and didn't want to wait longer than 6 months. So our wedding is in January :)

Shopping is always a good waste of time, and so is browsing these message boards. Congratulations and happy planning!

This gives you a great amount of time to get organized and not run around like a crazy person at the end. I think it is great to get the early start. It also helps to spread out the money outlay!

i agree with jonette, i feel crazy approaching more and more each day.

I am getting married in February 2009 too! What dates were u considering? DF and I have been dating for 5 years, have been engaged for a year already, and still have 15 months til the wedding. but im only 19 and hes 20 so its worth the wait

Time really does fly - we got engaged in December and are getting married in August, and I cannot believe firstly the amount of planning that I have already done, and secondly, the amount of planning that I have YET to do. I agree about spreading the money out, that helps alot - that and you can rationalise purchases more when you have a long time left to pay for them... hee hee.

You both are definitely right about spreading out the money outlay- it's helped a lot already! I'll get into my crazy organized budget when I start my PJ... sometime tonight probably.. heh :goodvibes

We're hoping for February 6th, or February 13th. They're both fridays, which makes it kind of iffy to get married on Friday the 13th. I dunno if I'm being too superstitious or what but it makes me a little :scared1: :)

Well if you do pick the 13th we will be there the same time as you because we are crossing our fingers for Saturday February 14th:yay:
