This will be our first visit with a small child (GD) I always thought Disney was for us adults........however we are taking a car seat and need to know the best way of packing it to avoid any damage
Thanks

Last couple of years we have taken our backup car seat (Britax Ranger) it uses the car seat belt
We put it in a Slazenger Cricket bag along with other bits and piecs (nappies, soft things etc..) Firts year when he was three months old, we put in his three wheeler pram as well.
Always gets there fine, plus the Britax seat is a lot lighter than his Bebe Confort normal car seat!

If you are flying Virgin they provide gigantic clear plastic bags to put them in. Last year (flying BA) we put ours in a black sack and a luggage elastic round to keep it together! Arrived without a mark!

I think Virgin's clear bags are best, as the baggage handlers can SEE its a car seat and SHOULD be less likely to throw it about. I also put a sticker on saying "Child Car seat, Your Care With This Item is Appreciated".

Wrapped ours up in bubble wrap last time with flight details written on labels and stuck on,this year seat is in 2 pieces so putting it in large case.

We've never taken our own, but got one with the hire car which has always been perfectly acceptable. That said, DD was 3 the first time. If I had a very young or small child, I would probably take my own.

i was thinkin of getting bubble wrap and packaging it myself. I think i would be happier that way, and it affords a bit of protection for it, however io think the baggage handlers are very careful with the car seats a they know how importnat they are.

The "Tote-n-Go" by Little Cargo (www.littlecargo.com) makes a packable carseat for little ones under 40 lbs. It's supposed to weigh less than 4 lbs itself, and can fit into your carryon.

Just FYI.

I've tried to get one for review purposes, but haven't heard back from the company. If someone has, or will, try one, could you let me know?

Our 11-year-old is way too big for car seats, and our 5-yr-old is tall enough and (I understand) can legally travel without a car seat in America. However, we are taking one of those triangular things that you can put around the seatbelt so it holds it down away from the child's neck. If this proves insufficient we will buy a booster from Walmart (we don't need them at home as our Toyota has built in boosters)
