How do you other moms do it?

I just told my friend no one gets to old age and says I should have spent more time cleaning or working
everybody says I wish I spent more time with my kids or family etc
on that vein my dd's and I went to the mini carnival at school tonight and then McD's for dinner instead of me doing laundry or unpacking suitcases that have sat by the door since tuesday night when we got home from vacation
tomorrow I will try and clean but I stopped sweating that along time ago
if you don't like my house feel free to clean it or leave

its hard being a first time mom
it gets easier
my 2nd is such a dream and so much easier than my 1st dd
I think with experience and age comes wisdom
you learn quickly how to make your life eaSIER

I'm very relieved to see I'm not the only one who doesn't 'do it all.' I do try to keep the kitchen sink empty and the toilets clean, but otherwise I spend most of my time with my babies. DH usually straightens up the living room when he gets home. Not that it stays that way for long with 4 kids ages 6,4,2, and almost 2 weeks old.

Count me in as another "non-super-mom" :)

When the kids were babies I resorted to hiring a youth from our church to clean the house once a week. Then all I had to deal with were dishes and laundry. There was just no way I could keep up with the dusting, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, etc. Now that they're in school I clean myself, but I was still lousy at the organization part (and covered in clutter - ugh) until I found this site: www.flylady.net

She is a lifesaver! I love her attitudes about housework - it doesn't have to be done "perfectly" (ie- when you vacuum, it's okay just to hit the high traffic areas, you don't have to move furniture and get every nook and cranny) and you can't do it all at once and you shouldn't try. She has a mailing list where she emails tips and reminders on cleaning and organization. She has rescued me from "chaos" (can't have anyone over syndrome) and while I still am far from perfect, I can now have guests and not be embarrassed :) She also strongly enocourages family time and her reason (and mine) to get organized and do housework a little at a time each day is so you can have Saturdays free to do family stuff instead of desperate all-day housework! It's so fun to just spend the day playing with the girls instead of vacuuming and doing laundry :teeth:

How come nobody ever wonders how us Dads do it??

I wonder that about my DH all the time. He works 2 jobs....1 FT and 1 PT. he only sleeps about 4-5 a day, yet he still gets the yard work done and helps around the house...stuff like running the vacuum and dusting. I really don't know how he gets through a day sometimes.
