How do you organize your swap stuff?

I have been lucky enough to participate in several swaps and I have lots of goodies. I currently have everything grouped by park or theme in gallon bags but it is hard to look through when I need something.

How do you organize your swap stuff?

I have those plastic shoe box sized bins, and I have one for each park, one for character stuff (not park specific) and one for resorts/restaurants. I try to go through and pull out everything for Magic Kingdom pages when I'm on that, and so forth. They are all lined up on the extra table in my room (and it's completely full!! Not that I'm a swap addict or anything!!)

In binders by park and then by land, and rides are separate as are the restaurants. I think you've seen the pics before.

I keep mine in a 3 ring binder in plastic sleeves. The sleeves are grouped by park with each sleeve a different section of the park as well as one for general park stuff. Then I have a different binder that groups the characters together in sleeves as well as swap stuff in months.

As I go to do an album I pull out all my swap stuff and my pictures and place them in the sleeves of the album in order. Then whenever I have time to put together a page I will lay out what I have and make notes of anything else I want to make or do for the page. When I have everything ready I put the page together.

My system has been working well for me this month at least.

I just started sorting mine out. I bought the plastic sleeves to place in a binder but I haven't gotten through the sorting yet. I didn't realize how many swaps I've been in until I started sorting. Thats part of the reason I'm on swap light this year. LOL

Just wondering what brand / kind of binders and plastic sleeves you all use to organize your swaps?

So, far my organizational system for my returned swaps doesn't exist. They're still in the boxes they arrived, and stacked in big plastic tubs in the basement. :headache: :sad2: :upsidedow

You sound like me!!!! I just go through the stuff and grab what I need at the time! It's awful! I need to organize my swaps!

Can somebody organize my life???? :lmao:

I used inexpensive bninders and sleeves from office depot- just the basic binders and the cheap sleeves for that- since the plan is not to keep them there forever.

I use the white binders from Staples. I think they are Avery. They vary in thickness from 1 inch for rub-ons to 3 inches for bulky swap stuff. Now if the stuff gets heavy the pages tend to sag out of the bottom of the binders and the protectors are slippery so you can't cram a lot of stuff in there. It keeps you honest. The baseball protectors have 1 tag in each. For some it just doesn't work, but it works for me for now.

I use the 8.5 x 11 page protectors for large items

The photo protectors for medium stuff. They have 2 4x6 pockets

And the protectors for baseball cards for small stuff

Where they are stored:

I use drawers...in the storage aisle at Walmart there are white plastic drawer storage things...they come in a variety of sizes, but I use the 12x12 drawers...there are 3 drawers per storage unit and you can stack them.

I have the fronts of the drawers labeled...color swaps, Christmas swaps, disney cruise swaps, disney park swaps, holiday swaps, seasonal swaps, school/birthday swaps, etc.

They are really handy because you can slide the drawer right out of the base which makes it easier to rummage through everything.

Buffy you are my inspiration. I'm hoping once I get things sorted placing them in the folders will be the easy part. Then I'll be able to see what I have and hopefully use some of it. And when I get a new swap it won't take as long to sort and store the new stuff. My DH will be very impressed if I can just get everything put away somewhere. LOL

Wow, thanks Buffy!!

And, I guess my next question, since you're so good at it, is about uploading photos online.......Duh!:headache:

Do you already have them online in Photobucket or another gallery?
I have a USB port for a digital card reader. I plug my card reader into my computer and load the pics to iPhoto. You can load the pictures into a file too.

Then on my photobucket account there is a window at the top that says: Upload images and files
Choose file
If you have multiple pics to upload click on add more images

Click on choose file and it will bring you to your folders, click on you picture that you want to load and click on choose. On the photobucket site there is a button that says upload, click that and the pics will go to your account. When the pic down loads click the picture to resize it for message board which is no larger than 640 x 4 something, depends on the pic. Then on the right there is a list of link addresses. You want the IMG code, copy it and paste it in the post you want the pic to appear in.

Clear as mud right?!?! LOL

The best an easiest place I have found to upload photos and post here is photobucket.com

easy upload off their site.. than when it says you have uploaded.. scroll down to see your pictures..and it gives you the link.. just highlight it; cut it.. and than paste it here on your post and it shows right up!!!

Make sense?

Thanks, BNMB and Nancy!! I haven't uploaded anything recently even to my computer. I keep copying them to CD's and then reusing the discs before uploading them. I'll have to try uploading into photobucket. I haven't deleted my cards from my Nov trip yet.

I don't think I HAD seen your organization, Buffy! I love it!

I'll have to see about doing that. The bags are OK, but I've been noticing that some of my stuff is getting bent and that bugs me.

Thanks for the tips!
