How do you organize your DVD collection?

I'm in the middle of organizing my DVD collection, it's up way over 200 and I had to buy another media shelf for it. (Target $15 ) So how do you organize yours?

FYI, I organize mine by Genre. Disney Movies first, Chick Flicks, Guy/Action Movies, Drama, Comedys

I do my DVD's alpahbetically.

Too many of them to split into categories, some would go both ways...so ABC is the best for me.

Ok, I fess up.
They are just randomly in the racks inside our TV stand. No rhyme or reason whatsoever.

But we do only have about 50 of them, not a whole lot.

Well, they are in alphabetical order on the shelf, except for the boxed sets that are seperate...at least, that's the theory!


The reality is, there's a stack of them by the DVD player in the living room, and a stack by the player in the bedroom, and the ones in the media case are falling over with all the missing disks...

Mostly a-z, but divided into two catagories: Kids and Grownups. DD has her own shelf that she can reach, and we have our own shelf up high. There aren't any (ahem) "adult" DVDs, but some titles that are innappropriate for someone her age (almost six).

Our twin daughters(10 months) do the organizing for us.

Our's are alphabetical, but the kids movies are on a seperate shelf.

Mine are done by genre. I have seperte shelves for entire TV series that I have collected, one shelf for Friends, one for the X-Files and one for Stargate SG1. Then I habe a shelf for comedies, action stuff and dramas, another shelf for Disney and musicals then another shelf for my husbands James Bond collection!

We have so many that our cabinet is overflowing. I used to to the ABC thing. Then I had to start storing them elsewhere, so I started the 'Favorite' system. Now I have 3 shelves of favorites, 2 shelves of box sets and a bunch put away. It's crazy.

Organize? They're in 3 huge piles on the table next to the TV.

Did organize them in Alphabetical order but after the kids get done with it they just put them back any old place.
Do keep box sets on a separate shelf

Pretty much, they are just on the shelf. We try to keep all the kids movies together, so that the girls have an easier time finding their movies.

Our DVD's are just on a shelf, with a 18month DD constantly pulling them out they never stay in any order.
