about the weather a week out from your trip? Here's the thing, way back in the mid-70's on our trip to Disney one summer, it rained the entire trip, and I'm not talking off and on, or drizzle, I mean pouring rain the entire trip. It was absolutely miserable, and as a kid that loved Disney, and only got there once every couple years, it was absolutely heart breaking. Ever since then, I worry incessantly about the forecast a week or so out.

Now I know there are those that say "well just put on your raincoat and head out and have fun". Sorry, I'm not that person, rain at Disney for me is 0 fun, I don't need brilliant sunshine, just no rain. Maybe I need therapy to get over my anxiety :rotfl:

I understand I have no control over the weather, but I just can't help but check the forecast leading up to our trip and worry that our 5 days might be consumed by a constant deluge. :scared1::eek:

Why worry ? You're just making yourself miserable - perhaps even stressed out. Over what? Something you have no control of !

I want nice weather when I go to WDW too - but worrying about it is a waste. Spend that time making alternate plans in the event the weather is poor

You're going in a week? Well, if it makes you feel any better, it's far less likely to rain all day (or all week!) long during December than it is in the summer. :thumbsup2 Fret not!

The chances of you having bad luck again is a million to one. Lighten up and look forward to a wonderful trip. :)

If you're like me, you worry until you see the 5 day forecast, then you just deal with it. At this point, I have been to Disney in just about every weather--including post-hurricane! Amazingly--and I understand your feelings--when I am at Disney, I tend to cope with things like this.

We are into the dryer period, so it will probably be okay. Now as for cold? Let's just say my last race at Disney was in Jan 2010 and it sleeted! (Oops, did I give you one more thing to worry about?!)

Sending pixie dust your way that your weather cooperates.

I've been to Disney World in every kind of weather. I've had deluges (and it rained, and rained, and rained), insufferable heat, cold, windy, hurricanes, whatever. I have never had snow, though (thinking that might happen this January). I've been to Disney World close to sixty times and one of my most fondest memories is of a very rainy day at Animal Kingdom with my husband, in-laws, and son. It rained so hard, it literally was coming down sideways. My son (19 years old at the time) didn't even have raingear and didn't want any. He was soaked. When the others wanted to go on It's Tough to be a Bug for the second time, my son and I decided to wait under shelter at the Flame Tree BBQ seating area. We had such a mother and son moment when an ibis came over and started picking through the trash. Sounds gross but we marveled at nature and talked about life in general. That was the last moment I had with my son before he met his now wife and had two kids with her.

So embrace the memories.

We were "rained out" a few years ago at Pop. It rained the ENTIRE 8 days we were there. It rained ALL DAY LONG. There were only two afternoons without rain!

So - we took pictures of Pop, and we laugh every time we see them. The dark, dark skies certainly don't make for a travel brochure! :goodvibes

Laugh - enjoy - put on a raincoat or poncho - you're at Disney!!!!! :thumbsup2

The weather is what it is. They can't even predict it right most of the time. I've had forecasts that said it would rain every day of my trip, and I had sunny days instead.

The only thing you can do is to book your trip during a time of year that typically has the kind of weather you prefer. The weather may not be perfect every day, but you have the best chance of getting the weather you want. If you hate cold weather, don't book in January or February. If you hate afternoon rains, don't book from June through September.

Once you've done that, you've done the best you can and the rest you just have to let go of. Like another poster said, have a backup plan in case the weather is wetter, hotter, or colder than you hoped for, and make lemonade out of any lemons Mother Nature throws your way.

We were there this past March and it rained 4 of our 6 days. And it RAINED, not just a mist or sprinkle. We have some of our best memories from that trip! We walked on TSM 4 times in a row. We put on our ponchos, picked up our 4-year-old and ran through the puddles. There are many attractions you can do in the rain! Don't worry, you're going to WDW!!!

I won't look at the weather forcast a week before we leave, same with the news.....I'm going and having a good time and not stress about what I can't control....same with being there...no weather or news channel allowed on the resort TV, and as for the USA they leave at our door, I save them all and take them home to look at...never on vacation...

I think everyone would like to have perfect weather while in Disney, but you can't control the weather...It's not worth worrying about. And, unless you are the Wicked Witch of the West, you won't melt in the rain. One of my best Disney memories is when a hurricane passed by/through Orlando while DH and I were on our Disneymoon...the park cleared out! So we took full advantage, bought some ponchos and went on every ride w/no lines. I remember us jumping in the puddles and just making the best of it. Am I looking forward to the awful heat for our upcoming July trip? Nope, but it is what it is, and my worrying is not going to change it, so I won't. You shouldn't either. :thumbsup2
