How do you like to grocery shop?

Do you go daily? Weekly? One store or many stores? Stick to a list or impulse buy? Pickup/delivery or do you shop yourself?

I used to be very strict about planning out all meals and sticking to a list. Now with the kids gone half the time and I'm working from home, I only plan about 2-3 meals a week and the rest is impulse/what sounds good at the store. I hate going to multiple to stores shop but there's certain items I like that I can only get at Costco or Trader Joes. I end up going out for groceries a couple days during the week.

I make a weekly menu.
Shop once a week at a regular grocery store to get the produce and special things I need......some impulses happen then.
I also shop at Costco every other week.
Just 2 of us

I usually go weekly, but with the pandemic it tends to be every two or three weeks. I keep more in the house.

I had been planning to get rid of our big freezer now that the kids are gone and had it almost emptied and ready to unplug last March. I filled it back up! I do try to meal plan (not by day, but by what I want meals I want to have available) and I always shop by a list. I LOVE to eat and like pretty much everything, so who knows what I'd come home with if I didn't stick with a list!

I like to do a "big shop" once a month to get a huge order but it's not always very purposeful. I don't have a freezer so I only buy as much fresh stuff as I can use within a reasonable time. I end up stopping at my small, neighbourhood grocer almost every day on my way home from work for milk, produce and/or meat, and whatever else I need to put together recipe ideas as they come to me.

Target: Once a month, early morning on a weekday for HBA/Household.
Winco: Bi-weekly, early morning on a weekday. Sticking to the outer aisles of the store. No lists. Currently working on eating down our pantry and freezer.

Those of you who do pick up or delivery, do you have good luck with produce? I feel like I'm really picky about produce and I don't trust the store to pick out something good, then I figure if I'm going in for produce I might as well get the rest of what I need.

I do an online order twice a month. Then I stop in the store about twice a week to buy things that we decide we want for dinner during the week. And half of what we bought sits in the freezer. But we always end up getting to it the following weeks.

We go every other week. During senior hours. We go to Sam's Club & Von's. And, occasionally, Smart & Final. With a huge list that we worked up over the preceding 2 weeks.

That's totally different than how we used to shop.

Everything had been good. I feel they take the time to pick the best stuff so people don’t complain.

Absolutely agree.

I order/pick up curbside groceries once a week, usually Saturday morning. I make a dinner menu sometime during the week for the following week and make my grocery order accordingly, plus add things for breakfasts/lunches/snacks.

Pre covid this was a huge cost savings for me as it greatly reduced impulse shopping. But with Covid, we started buying extras here and there and then extras incase things were out of stock, etc. Plus with normal increase in prices, I find I'm spending more these days. But I'd rather place my grocery order from my couch and do a quick pick up then to spend time inside the grocery store on the weekend.

Two stores, Walmart at 7 am Sunday morning, local chain about 30 minutes later for meat and produce. Although Walmart has really stepped up the quality of their produce by sourcing it locally. Go once a week. Shopping list for staples, (milk, bread, soap) but meal planning is almost totally done in the store based on what is on sale or looks good. That saves us a ton of money and we eat better/healthier that way.
