How do you like the Hub Expansion?

For those of you that have experienced the new hub in person.

How do you like it? Is there a lot more room to view wishes? Has it improved congestion and what walkways are open just for traffic flow....where you can stand to watch wishes?

I Looovvve it! I really wasn't sure, because it changes the original look of the park and nostalgia kicked in and I was skeptical. But it feels so much more open, and I sat near Casey's Corner waiting for my hubby and girls to come out-it wasn't nearly as crowded as it usually is at the end of the day. There is so much less congestion during Wishes, I can't even tell you.

Oh, yes, there are lots of places to view Wishes. There are multiple grassy areas in the new hub where you can just sit and watch, and it's much more open and accessible that previously.

Count me as a fan!

I was surprised at how much less crowded it felt this time with the new hub mostly in place. I like trees and benches, but better views and more elbow room are nice things too. It does look very nice and the castle turrets are going to look great. Overall very positive.

That's good to read. I sure hope it'll feel less crowded during Wishes when I'm there. It's always stressful for me to be in that crowd of people.

I like it a lot. Looks like it has been there for years. I hope to use it next month to view Wishes. Since I am off site, I have not booked FP yet, but it will be a slower time of the year.

I'm still holding off on a final opinion until they're finished. Disney usually manages esthetics well, and what they've done so far looks pretty good, even though,to me, it is radically different from the original hub. I hate the loss of all of the mature trees. To me the hub feels hotter than before. And don't get me started on them bulldozing the rose garden. But I think it will accomplish their primary aim, which was to decrease congestion.

I agree with many of the above posters, In the past couple of years with this new construction I have been getting very nostalgic with things being taken away (volcano at Poly almost killed me) but I do like the new expansion for the most part. The Hub is such a nice place to just stroll through and spend some time now. There is a bunch of character statues and the grassy areas are awesome to just relax during the day. I think they have concrete coloring issues and I do not like the turrets but for the most part it is :thumbsup2

Those stupid boxes by the castle seemed to get in the way a bit. wishes still crowded but seemed there were more options of where to stand

I haven't seen it yet but picture of the the back by the resturants looks amazing. Most wouldn't go back there unless they had reservations, now it looks all airy, inviting and you wonder why it wasn't this way in the first place.. I haven't seen the new production towers yet but always hated that tree that seemed to remove great show/fireworks viewing spots so I can't see that being an improvement. This is a huge "block your view on purpose" fail to me. It should have been removed long ago after the initial trees grew up a little and did the view block further away.

There are actually places where they are allowing you to sit in the grass and watch Wishes? Oh that would be so nice. Where are there places?

There are fake grassy areas that are fenced in but it is FP+ only viewing of Wishes.

To be honest, when we were there a couple of weeks ago, the only thing we noticed were some of the construction walls. Not visiting as regularly as others do, the space didn't stand out as being more or less congested. Maybe when it's completely finished, it will be more noticeable.

I thought the same thing? (That's its not finished?) Every time we go, we are still shoved in between the construction boxes, and last time, we couldn't exit thru the castle, it was like blocked off, so I don't know, but I don't think its nearly done yet, at least I hope it's not done. My hope is that they are getting projections closer to the castle "disguised" because when we watch Celebrate off the side from Fantasyland bridge, it's an UNBELIEVABLY crisp and clear projection, but its not the front, so you miss some of the 'show' that's projected on to the front, BUT the quality from that close projector is CRAZY good, much better than just straight on. So that's what I'm hoping they are doing with those two big boxes. But what do I know. I know it's not done, and that the view is obstructed and that while its on it's way, its still very cramped in there...? (But we still chance it when new people come, otherwise, we watch by 7D)

I hate it when the castle is blocked off, preventing guests from walking through.
It should always be an open walkway for guests. Yes always, shows aren't more important than giving guests fantasy ;)

Dream Along With Mickey is supposed to resume next week, so might they be close to finishing the work?

Thanks, that is what I am afraid of. I guess we will have to try to get a FP+ in order to sit down and wait for Wishes. I hear they ask you to stand during the show.

They do, they allow sitting until just as Celebrate the Magic starts and then they ask everyone to stand, I would love to be able to sit but so far theres been standing room only (not by choice)
