We will be staying at Saratoga Springs for the fist time in October 2022, how do you like it? Are there any kid friendly amenities?

We've stayed there several times. Where is your room located (Preferred or regular?) as this can factor into your enjoyment. The main pool has loads of activities for the kids (trivia, music, activities, games, etc) and right next door is Community Hall which brings another option for activities and games.
The Paddock pool has the highest slide on property (so the CM's brag) and kids love it.
There are the usual array of rentals available near the main pool.
They have the campfire (fire pit) every night behind community hall. They also show movies nightly (not sure where, but assuming in the same area). There's an arcade.
The walkways to the Springs are nice if your kids want to head there (Ghirardelli's maybe?).

The pool in the Grandstand section is also pretty good. I like taking to boat to DS. I also enjoy taking a boat from DS to the other resorts in the area, just to do the boat ride.
They have Surry bike rentals there too, so that's a fun option with the kiddos.

Love SSR! If you have littler kids the paddock pool area also has a kiddie area with smaller slides and splashy things. The paddock slide, in my opinion, is the best pool slide on property. It’s fun to try out all the pools with kids.

Saratoga sometimes gets a bad rap, but I have always really liked it. The biggest downside pointed out is usually transportation to the parks, which is all bus. However, its proximity to Disney Springs adds a lot when it comes to food and other entertainment. Also earns extra points from me as a golfer because Lake Beuna Vista Golf Course is right there.

I think it is pretty decent kid wise as well. Has some of the typical stuff, free nighttime movie showings, pools are all nice, an arcade, etc. A couple extras not found in all the other resorts are surrey bokes, and I think they still offer fishing. And again, with it so close to Disney Springs that adds a bunch of non-park entertainment.

Our first ever stay at DVC (rented points) was at SSR near the Paddock pool just a few days ago for the 4th of July weekend. It was our first family trip to WDW and only my second trip after a 20 year gap.

We loved it. We stayed in a Deluxe Studio and per recommendations of some others on the board we did rent a car for this trip.

Pros -

  • Rooms were solid and we liked our studio. We did a tour of a 2BR and a 3BR and we loved them (future trips please).
  • The Paddock pool was great.
  • We could walk to Disney Springs or we would "cheat" a bit and drive our car just down the road (still inside of the resort) and make the walk really short.
  • We didn't use too much in the main building but the pool over there looked awesome.
  • It's kind of on the edge of property so not too hard to get off site for shopping or outside food. We found an awesome Latin food place with great food, Sofrito Latin Cafe. This will be a must visit on every WDW trip we make for years to come!

Cons -
Bus to MK, or EPCOT takes a while. The bus has 3 or 4 stops in SSR too.

Summary-
Loved SSR and will stay again. Due to the better point charts and high availability at 7 months it will be our go to place to gamble for cheaper rooms for family reunion holidays where we are trying to book multiple rooms for lots of people. We might even like the standard rooms better if we can stay near the Paddock pool!

Have only stayed with my one year old so can’t speak to all the activities. But we stayed in grandstand which was nice and quiet and the pool area there was perfect for her for a little downtime.

Only time we had a real problem with a bus was when the first morning bus came and left before the time it was supposed to. Otherwise just normal bus stuff but nothing too bad.

And the boat ride to and from springs was a fun activity itself for her.

we stayed in Congress Park and the Grandstand sections and liked them both. Would like to try the other 3 sections. We liked being in Congress Park for the easy walk to DS

DH is a golfer also, so I thought he might enjoy Saratoga Springs. But he said he likes OKW because it has so many great golf views. He loves sitting on the balcony watching the golfers tee off or putt (depending on where we are). Are there many golf views at Saratoga Springs?

We are fans now, not so much when it 1st opened
We like the Grandstand area and from some rooms we get a golf view
We like the proximity to DS which wasn’t much of a draw in DTD’s declining years
Overall, we feel it to be a relaxing resort, cool theming and one of the best QS places in property

Well, the golf course club house is located at Saratoga Springs (below Turf Club), and all of the Grandstand section is completely surrounded by fairways (holes 10, 11, 17 and 18).

You can also sit on the terrace at Turf Club and watch golfers tee off at #1 across the water.
