How do you know what to buy?

Well we have saved up about 1,500 credits but everythings costs so much! I find myself having to talk my daughter (age 7) out of buying things, in case the "really good things" come up. But I'm not quite sure what a really good thing is.

For instance, in the Emporium today, I see some things that look fun under specials...but I don't know if they are always there or not (like the number generator, for instance, or the penny press). And I don't even know if they actually do anything, or if they are just furniture!

Can anyone help!

Thanks!

Well, currently in the Emporium, all items except for the Skyway Pin have been there since shortly after Christmas. The everest outfit has also been there for a month & a half.

But you never know what may be there tomorrow. But it's usually on fridays that they add items and after close on sunday that they take certain specials away.

Basically, with the few credits she has, just buy what she likes. :)

Also, I can give her a couple items for free if you would like. :)

Also try out the free games that give you furniture for free like the narnia game, kelloggs game and yeti vision. I beleive there are links or at least information about the games under the players guide at the top of the board. That is how I decorated my rooms in the beginiing, I had alot of skull rock rooms!

I would buy what she likes. For instance, some people like to collect pins, others like to buy furniture. I love costumes, especially hats, and anything purple. I used to have the same dilemma about saving credits, but now when there is something I like, I buy it. I never worry about how rare an item may become or what the most valuable item might be.

That is pretty much how i buy. I don't worry about what every other person tells me i 'need', I buy what I think is cute. I do occasionally buy an extra of something I think may be good for trade later on.;)

Just don't forget that there are free credits available:
1. Check the sticky at the top for codes for credits. If you haven't already done, there is a quick 1000 + credits from those.
2. The credits from the NPCs do add up pretty quick. You can get them every 12 hours (not once a day). 8 NPC x 2 day x 20 credits = 320 credits a day or 2240 credits a week! Nothing to sneeze at! Think of it as an allowance for your daughter. Even if you aren't good at the minigames that give credits, this is probably enough to buy a few things a week to add to a room.

3. Selling stuff - I personally don't do this for buyables because of the horrible return on your money. I would rather trade something (even buyables for buyables) to retain the full value of the item. It often seems that the traders always want rare or quest and don't want buyables but if you look a little closer (or seek out the nice people on this board), there is always someone who is willing to trade you.

Also, I think of my rooms as works in progress - they are never finished and probably never will be. I am constantly adding or taking away stuff or tweaking my arrangements.

If you see me in the game, say hi. I play with my young daughter also and many of my rooms are her ideas and arrangements. I would love to give your daughter a tour (and maybe lovely parting gift!)
