ok, this is crazy, but we just got back from Disney and had a GREAT time! I used to say that we would go once and that was enough. Well, now that we went I want to go back. I could actually see going back a bunch of times that I even wanted to look into DVC! My kids are 4 and 5 so I hope we have plenty of years to enjoy and from what I read, age doesn't even matter! So, how do I know it is Disney I love, verses just the thrill of being a "real" vacation (1st in almost 5 years). Those of you who go multiple times, does it still stay as great as ever? What I enjoyed so much was how there was so many different things to do, so that over the years I can see you could always go to Disney, but yet have a totally different vacation! We stayed at OKW and I am hooked.

:wave2: pixiedust: :welcome:

you now officially have the Disney gene. All it takes is that first trip... you got it , you're hooked.

Life as you know it will never be the same :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just look at all of us here

If you're really interested in learning more about DVC , check out the forums, there are a whole group that discuss only DVC and everything that it encompasses.

You'll be finding ways to get to Disney more & more & more

Oh yes going multiple times is great. There is so much to do. We have our favorites but i always try to add in a new place to eat or resort to try even if i switch into that resort for a day or two. Its a wonderful world ; )

Everytime we go it's like the first time all over again. We just change it up a little here and there to keep everyone happy. We also try to travel with other people and also just take a trip by ourselves. The kids love it, this time we added the 4 day cruise to our trip. We are DVC people and have never once said we shouldn't have bought. We actually purchased a few more points about a year ago. My son is 9 and will be visiting Disney for the 8th time this summer. Once you're hooked, you're hooked, good Luck with that.

Lets put it this way, I have all of Sept off, I booked a great European cruise for 14 days and was very excited to go. Last week I cancelled my cruise and booked my Disney vaca for the 4th year in a row. Disney is so amazing, the people and experiences cannot be beat.

I've been to Disney World countless times as a child, between the ages of 1 to 16 years old. My dad's business would close between Christmas and New Years each year, and we often went to Disney World at that time. I am really grateful for those experiences

I now have my own family, including two girls, ages 6 and 8. We started going to Disney again when our 1st daughter was just 10 months old (March 2001). We had a fantastic time, reliving old memories for me, and creating new ones with my family. I really thought hard about buying into DVC at the time, but didn't follow through.

We returned to Disney World in March 2004, and it reaffirmed my love of Disney World. As your children grow, they get to experience new things (get to go on more rides, etc.). So, each visit allows for something new.

Later that year, we bought into SSR, sight unseen. I have no regrets. We now go to Disney World about every 12 to 18 months. We never feel rushed, because we know that we'll be back again some day soon. The accommodations are nicer than moderate resorts. We really like the one-bedroom villas. The full kitchen allows us to eat at "home" in the morning for breakfast if we wish.

Our next trip will be this winter, our daughters should be tall enough to ride on some roller coasters and other rides that they previously couldn't, so they will be sure to enjoy more new experiences; and I'll be glad to hit these rides again, too.

As for you, I think that it is fine for you to be hooked on Disney. And you're right that your kids will enjoy it for plenty of years to come. You should carefully consider how frequently you will be vacationing though, before you decide to buy into a timeshare. You mentioned this is your first vacation in 5 years. You need to plan to vacation more frequently if you buy into DVC. Look into other DVC threads about banking and borrowing vacation points. Realistically, you must expect to vacation every year or two (maximum interval between vacation of three years), for DVC to make sense for you.

:cool2:

To some it gets into your blood. You never want to return to the real world. Many year ago, we did vacations until WDW came along, nothing tops this place, huge property, many fantastic resorts, 4 theme parks and water parks and you get to stay right in the middle of it and they provide all transportation. We're headed for our 41 trip this fall and we could stay at WDW and never go to a park, just so much to see and do, a totally relaxing piece of property. Glad you got the bug, now you can be like the majority of us and plan Disney all year.

Welcome - and oh, yes, going time and time and time and time and time again is wonderful. I'm not sure which number trip we're up to as a family this coming October - 12th maybe...plus about 15 solo trips for me while on business in FL - but it definitely gets into your blood, as someone else said. The magic is there, whether you are 4 or 64. My kids love it so much - but DW and I love it even more. Go back - you'll have lots more fun, and find out new stuff that you missed out the first time - and that will happen again and again and again and again and again.... :)

:cool1: Well we went the first time in 2002, DH had been in 1975 or 76 and I had never been. We had the trip of a lifetime. Neither of us have been the same since. I think about Disney everyday and play my Disney CDs in the car almost daily to work. I will get to show my parents the world this Dec. and already have my spreadsheet ready.....if you think about it daily and miss being there--you are addicted.:hyper:
As an aside--this week I went to my Doc and she asked me how I was sleeping. :faint: I use a C PAP so usually I sleep well--to make a long story short, I had to admit to being on the Dis until 1100-1130 at night. She gave me a prescription of no internet past 8:30....but I cant stop READING THIS WEBSITE:scared1: --she told me I was definitely addicted, too.::yes::
Have a great time planning your second trip--you won't be able to wait 5 yrs to get back:yay:

and have been too many times to count....and I've always lived in the northern half of the US, so it's always a long distance vacation. There have been times when I am only in Orlando for a day or two, and I always try to go at least for a quick visit. DH had been several times, but hadn't been in 10 years. Half way through our week(which the kids and I badgered him into since we went without him last year), he casually mentioned that we should think about going down without the kids for our anniversary. Enough said....it was booked before we got home!

Welcome to the "Disney Freak Club"

:thumbsup2

I dont know of anyone who has ever recovered from the disney bug and I dont think I want to (they must be quite sad). There is so much to do you will never get board and we have many magical memories. our first trip was going to be a one off and were going back for the 5th time in september.

I hope you and your family enjoy many more magical trips to my home!! (I just visit the UK for 50 weeks a year:rotfl2: )

Planning these trips also adds to the magic, we eat, sleep and breath disney every day at our house.

:rotfl2:

Since coming home a week ago I am on here everyday for more DVC info! My dh must have also been a little swayed because when I asked him about buying into it he said we can't do anything until Sept!:yay: I was expecting much more protest and negative reasons why we couldn't! Thanks for making me see this bug may never go away!

:goodvibes :goodvibes My family took our first trip in 2005. My husband had been when he was a child and I had been once on a school trip when I was 15. We were under the usumption that Disney was a once of a lifetime vacation. We approached it with that type of attitude and planned accordingly. Our children were 3 and 6at the time, both old enough to "remember" the one time adventure. The previous year some DF's of ours had planned a trip and they told their DD's by having Cinderella "send" them a letter. When our DD asked her BFF if she would ask Ariel to write her a letter so she could go to WDW, that sealed it for my husband. We started planning our own magical vacation. We had always thought of going but we figured we would wait until our children were 10 & 7 because we wanted them to (once again) be able to remember it. When we walked through the gates of the MK and seen Cindy's castle, I cried tears of joy. It was 8:00 am and we had an ADR for 8:15 for Cindy's breakfast. Needless to say we have been back every year since and we will continue to make WDW or vacation destination. There is no place like it on earth and if you can only afford to go once - go. You will not regret it!!

I hadn't gone to Disneyland in roughly 20 years..

Let me tell ya, I should have stayed home and just written off Disneyland as a trip that someone takes when they're 10...

BECAUSE IT'S LIKE CRACK.
I fantasize about it in the day, dream about it night. I want to quit my job and become a castmember running the teacups, or the dude that fixes the Pirates ride when it breaks..

Normal people shouldn't think like this.....

The magic still lives.:cool1: You know you are really hooked when you get an AP and start planning two trips at once.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: DS is 22 now and hasn't tired of going with his parents.:lmao: Now we take his DGF and she caught the bug from us. They are even talking about a Disney honeymoon.
