I really messed up!! I thought I had it all down pat and was organized with my points! Ya, know, I said "Oh, I'll log it here and won't forget it"....WEll, I forgot where I logged it (on paper not computer)!!

I had some banked points and now my use year is June so I have another year of points. Do you get your use year points on the first or last day of the month.?? Can I call MS or even email them and request an update on my point status??

How do you keep track of your points?

Thanks

I use DVC POints Manager by David Fredrickson. I have laso downloaded some spreadsheets that have been mentioned on this forum.

I am in the processing trying to find the URL for the Point Manager progam, I will edit this post when(if) I find it again.

but maybe some of the other people here have it more readily accessible and will post before I do.

Found it! this is the latest thread for it HERE

and the actual link is HERE

I have not actually done this myself, but I read recently of a member requesting a copy of their "details" from Member Services and they received a hard copy in the mail. I, too, use the program mentioned above, and I love it, but then, it also has not been hard to keep track of only 150 points :).

With a pencil and a $3 calculator; takes about 10 minutes a year. Have never failed to agree with MS!:p

I tried all the fancy method, and I still forgot points.

So, I finally attached a piece of yellow post it note behind my DVC card. Everytime I called, I write down the # of point used, the date I booked, and # points left. And the date in which I must bank by. Then write this date down on my calendar. Towards my new used year, I wrote that down too on the post it note.

Still works.

Like MikeScott8, we use David Fredrickson's DVC POints Manager. It makes it all so simple and you can use it to plan far in the future. It has the schedule for banking points, etc and automatically calculates banked and booked points. Great program!:p

We didn't have any problems the first few years.
We have 4 contracts at 3 resorts all with the same use year

Then we decided to take a cruise and cancelled reservations and borrowed other points to get the cruise points together. After that we have borrowed some, banked others, etc
I can match MS BUT I have had to double check with them several times.

IF we skip HH next summer we will be out of the borrowing mode and things should get back to current and banked. However would love to cruise again .....................

Linda:confused:

I own jointly with my sister, so I let her keep track of the points.

Hi Rosemary,

I keep a journal in MS Word called my DVC journal where I make notes about our trips, reservations, cancellations and point balances. I keep the balances for the next three years because I am always in borrow mode, I never forget to bank points. I have three separate contracts for two resorts and two use years and I just keep it separated by use year.

After each entry I update my point status and make notes about changes. It takes very little time, I don't need to learn any programs or spreadsheets and I know exactly where I am when I make a reservation and when I make a reservation I subtract those points as though they were already used.

Also please do not forget to contact member services to check your point balances occaisionally, I have found they do make mistakes and they are really good about fixing them, if you notice it.

You really do not need any special tools and I find that the journal will be something I can go back to years from now and remember all of the special vacations that DVC has provided for us!

Good luck, and don't lose any points they are far to precious.

I use DVC POints Manager by David Fredrickson and I LOVE it!
It's easy to use, fun to plan with and automatically does all math functions.:) :) It contains it's own point chart, so planning is a breeze! Sharon

Thanks for the info. I downloaded the DVC manager, now I just have to figure out where it is on my computer and How to use it!!

Kick It Up a Notch! I like your idea!! I can at least find stuff in my Word files!! Noticed your from Wilmington. We lived there for a littel while (90-93). My DD goes to the East Elite Cheer gym in Wilmington 3 times per week!!

I created my own Vacation Planning software system that tracks my points and also my air, dining, tickets, packing lists, etc.

I have been meaning to finished it up and make it available, but just haven't had the time.

that sound like an interesting package. be sure to post when you do get it done and out there.

I also sent you a PM on this,

Mike
