How do you keep pins on lanyard? My dd's pins kept falling off the lanyard. Does anyone else have this problem and what did you do to keep the pins on the lanyard?

Pardon me for asking but what's a Lanyard? What's the deal with pins too? Are they just regular pins? So... :confused3 I'm a REAL GENUINE newbie!!!
(Who's going to WDW in 6 days!!!)

They make these locking pin backs that you actually screw on to the back of your pins. I know the pin store at Epcot and DTD sells them.

I've lost a few pins from my lanyard when I carried DS and his shoes would scrape along my lanyard and the pins would come loose. It annoyed me to the point that I actually bought a hat and just put the pins on my hat instead of a lanyard.

SOFTAILDEUCE, my dd bought a pin for all the rides that she rode. Some have moveable parts, music, etc... Basically, the lanyard is a thingy you wear around your neck to put pins on...LOL...I was wondering the same thing last year before our first trip.

We're not going to DTD but, maybe I can find some locally??? Or, somewhere else in the World???

I've seen them most anywhere they sell pins. They come in a little plastic bag with an allen wrench to tighten them. I've even seen them at the resorts gift shops.

if you are using regular metal pin backs switch to the rubber ones, they will stay on a lot better

Get the locking backs!!! We have used the black rubber ones, and they don't work well. The locking backs are great - you will not lose a single pin! Love our lanyards!

We didn't use a lanyard but put our pins on DHs video camera bag strap, they kept falling off until we used the locking backs - they were great. I don't remeber how much they were but we bought them from the pin store in DTD, they were not too expensive and you get quite few in one pack.

I didn't know about the ones that lock. Would of bought some when we were there recently. Is there a website I can order some from? chances of us being able to go back soon is slim since we have to start saving up again for another trip.

We usually don't have any problems with the rubber backed pins, if we trade for a pin and it has a metal pin back we exchange it from a little stash we have. My DH and I have gotten in the habit over the years of checking our backs while we are waiting in line or walking along we don't even notice we do it anymore.
If we trade for a heavy pin then it goes in our bag and never gets to the lanyard.
Once we were walking along and I noticed a clicking sound on my sandle, it was Woody all the paint was scraped off him and he was just shiney silver....poor Woody...

Here is a tip someone gave me at when I was at WDW last year...

Punch out holes from a plastic water jug or milk jug with a paper punch and then poke a hole in the middle of the little circle with one of your pins. After putting the pin on your lanyard, put on the plastic disc and then the regular pin back. Instant "pin washer" cheap and easy! So far it is working for me. After losing two pins last year, I wasn't taking any more chances.

LOL, I hope that description makes sense!

Being a relative newbie to pin trading, I didn't know about the locking back, but might have to check those out on my trip next week.
