How do you keep cool?

But the best advice I can give you...don't go to SoCal in the summertime!:rolleyes1 It seems whenever I'm there, they are having some sort of heat wave with record highs. Ha! When are they going to realize this is just the normal now and not a "record"!:thumbsup2

Yeah, when we went last September, they had a heat wave. It was the third week and temps were in the 90s! Ugh. I'm all for off season, as long as my kids' schedules will allow it.

DM stays cool with a wet hand towel around her neck! The misters always work well on a hot day and mini fans can be helpful.

We bought misty mate misting bottles for our trip in Aug 2009. They worked great. It is a small bottle with a hand pump on the bottom. It requires no batteries. It creates a gentle mist. It is slightly expensive, around 13-15, but it was fantastic! I have seen knock off versions of the misty mate at CVS and Grocery outlet. They cost around $5 if you can find them. I don't know if they work as well as misty mate, but they look almost identical, maybe slightly wider.

We bought our misty mate at Big 5 sporting goods.

Enjoy your trip, we can't wait until August to go again!:wizard:

We have 2 stroller fans that we use for the kids (especially when they are napping in the stroller) http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3452272&CAWELAID=323941776 We have used them for every trip and they are wonderful (they seems to have bad reviews on Toys R Us for some reason, ours have been GREAT!) We also bring a lot of water and try to do inside rides, water rides or go inside for a treat or to shop every so often to split up our day from being in the heat all day.

Ride Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run. You might be uncomfortable and wet all day though :lmao:

Hear ye..Hear ye..presenting the biggest Misty mate fan ever!!!! We go in the summer and I do not like to be hot..that being said, we bought the misting fans at DLR on the first trip and just thought it was so bulky to carry around...ugh!! So, the last trip we stopped in at BIG 5 and picked up some misty mates..and we will never do the parks without them. THey are so functional and small..we just slipped them in our pockets while boarding rides, no problem. While waiting in hot lines..we were misting ourselves with cool water...ahhh!! everyone kept asking us what they were..ultimately, we ended up sharing our misters with others waiting in line and they were SO grateful, lol!!! When they run out of water, just refill at the water fountain or bathroom sink!! ALso, we take a few frozen bottles of water in a small cooler and take a hotel nap every aftenoon!! Some dont like going to DLR during the summer, but we feel that we have it down to a science and can really enjoy our vacation.

Wear light colored clothing to reflect the sun (less heat absorbed), wear a visor (Disney) remember the sunscreen, including sunscreen in your chapstick. The other posters have given great tips to keeping cool. Using the fast passes whenever you can will cut down your wait time. Plus, taking a break during the day to relax in your room, go swimming in the pool or just take a nap will refresh you to return to the parks rearing to go until they close! The Tinkerbell Twist in a souvenir cup are great to drink and share with your family while waiting in a line. It does refresh you and the cups are great to use when you are at home.:thumbsup2

I have recently found that the athletic shirts that wick away the sweat are great. For me they keep me pretty cool & dry. They make hats out of the same material.
I love my misting fan. Best $20 I have spent at WDW.
We have never done DL, but will be in June. Unless there is some freak hot/humid heat wave I think we will be OK. We have done WDW with 95 temps and 100% humidity.

Yikes! What can we expect for the first week in October? We will be coming from spring weather in New Zealand so I expect we will really feel it? I can see us using our shuttle (staying at Sheraton Anaheim) back to the hotel for an afternoon swim.

We found a misty mate type thing at our Big 5 store (sporting goods). It was a lifesaver last August in the heat. Our son, who uses a wheelchair, would have been so miserable without it.

How do I keep my cool? Well sometimes not so well! ;) ha ha! Actually.... I will take a deep breath.....several if necessary...... then count to 10...... then try to figure why someone is acting like a donkeys booty..... then feel sorry for them...... Oh wait a minute I have just been informed that I have read the question incorrectly..... so nevermind...... So oh oh..... how to keep cool..... well I love the Tiki Room, and on a day when the weather is too warm for me, I especially love to sit upon it's seats.... I do not normally wear a hat, because I usually have my hair done...(There she goes again fainting because she was too vain to wear a hat, oh well.....will she ever learn?... NO!) ha ha!
I wear moisturizer that contains SPF 15, and I will drink enough water throughout the day... also love to take a whirl as it were around the park on the Dl train..... ah..... you stay cool, can take a nap and just go around and around until you fall off of your seat. ;) Actually, that has never happened to me, with the exception of almost falling asleep that was not because of the heat though, it was tiredness related... and tossing cookies the morning before... oh so not pleasant! It was not Disney food. I was not even at the park yet, and was worried that I would not make it either. Yeah.... like that was going to happen... let me tell ya... I would have to be dead or in a coma, maybe even quite possibly traction so as not to visit the land, when I am already in the zip code.
Where were we?... oh yeah... well that is pretty much what I do, that and walk slowly, visit the pirates and the manse like I always do anyway... but since these ride attractions are so nice and cool, that is an added bonus for me... cool until I see someone taking flash pictures that is..... then back to my opening statements!

October isn't too bad- really. You may actually be a bit, dare I say it, chilled in the morning and evenings.

You may not want to go back to the hotel mid day because most likely hours aren't as extended in Oct as they are in the summertime. So you'll miss out on precious park time if you choose to do that.
