My lights are on...and thank goodness all 12 strands were fine (so far)......I always use garland and have always tried to scallop it.....wondering if anyone does anything different with it????

The scallops never seem to come out even for me....it looks ok at night though......

Any thoughts??

I gave up garland years ago...now I use dried baby's breath. It's so pretty...kind of looks like snow.

We scallop the gold bead garland. We've also spiraled it down the tree, but like the scallop effect better. :)

I found a website with tips on garland and the said the correct way to do scallops is to start at the bottom and then you do them opposite....so when you are going around the point on the scallop would touch the dip above.........I did it......and it looks really cool. I have to run out and get more garland though...I ran out.......But it is like a diamond look with the garland.....

Will have to see if everyone else likes it.....

I can't help (I use ribbon) but I wanted to ask how big your tree was that you use 12 strands of lights, that tree must be bright!

Start at the bottom and work up, huh? I always start at the top and work down, and *every* year my scallops are uneven. Though, by the time all the ornaments are put on, you can't really tell ;)

I missed that -- *12* strands of lights? Wow! We only have 4 on ours (7.5 foot), but I'm kinda wishing we had more on it. I've already started putting the ornaments on and the garland is on, so I'm not going to go back and add more lights *now*, but next year I'll have to remember... more lights!

My tree is 8 foot....I love lights...so there are about 1500 or so lights...I know....fire hazard!!

I told my mom about the start at the bottom (cause we always have started at the top too)....But when I started on the bottom...it made sense......cause the scallops always get smaller at the top....and huge at the bottom......this way you don't have it too big space on the bottom...

And the opposite thing is REALLY COOL!!!!!....it shapes the garland into diamonds......and looks pretty even

I always have a problem with this... would you remember what web site you found? I'd love to go check it out! Thanks......
