We are going to be spending a lot of time at F&W fest this trip, but we won't be staying in the Epcot Resort Area. I was wondering what option you use when you're only going to The World Showcase?

Disney transportation. If I'm going from POFQ, that means going to the main entrance and walking back. Just speaking for myself, I'm fine with that, no problem. That said - I'm a hopper, and I like splitting days between DHS and Epcot and boating back and forth between them.

I would use Disney transportation also. Much easier. Another option than going to the front of Epcot by bus, could be to take a bus from (looks like Old Key West for you) to a park and then a bus from that park to Beach Club. Probably less walking, possibly less time. Just an alternative.

Just another option.

Bus to DHS.
Boat to Epcot International Gateway.

I usually stay at an Epcot resort so I walk through the IG. If I'm not staying there I use Disney transport to front gate and walk through. I always have hoppers, so sometimes on the rare occasion I'm staying at another resort, I will take transport from another park to YC/BC and walk to the IG from there.

I have stayed at Boardwalk several times now and have had trouble finding a parking space on some afternoons. Apparently there is so much to do at the Boardwalk area that they do not mind if you park there. You can drive to the Boardwalk and park there to go in the International Gateway.

I think there may be an implicit (and false) assumption in your choices, which is that it is significantly faster to walk from an Epcot resort to the International Gateway than it is to walk from the front of Epcot to the World Showcase

If you take a taxi or Disney transport to the front gate of Epcot, your walk to WS through Future World will not be hugely longer than from an Epcot resort, especially when you count that you have to go *through* the resort to get to the path around the lagoon.

IMO, going through the IG via an Epcot resort (once you have arrived at your start point) instead of from the front of Epcot yields a significantly different experience in terms of the amount of walking only in the following situations:

  1. You plan to take the boat to the IG to cut down on walking
  2. You have a car and are driving, *and* you know you will be parked far enough back in Epcot parking lot to necessitate a tram (even here it's marginal)
  3. You are going to an ADR at an Epcot resort and plan to visit the World Showcase afterwards
  4. You are going to an ADR on the resort side of the World Showcase and don't plan to visit any other parts of the World Showcase

A wider look that shows all of Epcot:

The walk through the resort at YC or BC is literally right through, the front door and back entrance line up with each other, true the bus stops are not right in front of the resorts so you do have to walk from the bus stop to the resort through the resort (can't take more than 30 seconds to walk through the resort) if you are at BC the walk to the IG probably doesn't take 5 min. max and then you are almost right at France. The bus stop at the Epcot front gate is not at the gate so I'm thinking the walk from the bus stop (which can be longer or shorter according to what resort you are coming from since the stops are spread out) to the front gate is probably equal to if not longer than the walk from the bus stop through the resort. I'm pretty sure the walk from the BC to IG to France or England is shorter than the walk from the front of Epcot to the first country. Having said that, you can't catch a bus from resort to resort so that trip would have to start at a park.

Thanks for the replies. After seeing the maps I remember saving them years ago on a computer that I am sure I no longer have. Thanks Robo.

Practice, practice, practice.

Very well said, I think that's exactly what we will do. I will be a guinea pig and test out a few routes. I will report the times when we get back.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Options:

>>Drive to Boardwalk Inn and see if they'll let you park in the overflow lot. Tell them you want to see the Boardwalk and then go to F&W. In past years, we've had no problem with this.

>>Take a bus from a park to either BWI, BC, or YC and walk to Epcot through the International Gateway.

>>Go to/park at DHS and take the boat over to Epcot. It stops right at the International Gateway. This is what Robo suggested, and would be my choice!
